3 YV-666's ??!

With the new gunner slot added to the yv-666, I am considering rolling out a 3 Slaver list.  i never got a chance to in version 1.

 

What are your guys thoughts on it?  

Of course, it won't win any tourneys, but would be fun.

 

What are your ideas on a 3 -666 list?

First off this topic is fun, and posting it to general discussion is good.

Second, this squad will likely do very well at jousting but get owned by arc dodgers, so upgrades to mobility on at least one Kill-bus seem like must, just so you can at least turn around once. not sure the current options for scum give you much on that front.

its almost a ww2 bomber situation, were you might want an escort fighter positioned in your YVs blindspot

I've been playing this pre-points adjustment, surprised a few people with how effective it actually is.

Well, bring one! 3 x Trandoshan Slavers gives you 32 to play with - or  14 lets you take Moralo Eval, who can double back and outflank the outflankers.

I'll absolutely second the use of Moralo, I've used him to both outflank the opposing force for the initial engagement AND to double back and secure my blind-spots.

at the moment my biggest problem is the lack of useful gunners on the YV, the best I've got so fsr is Dengar on Bossk and BT-1 (with 0-0-0 crew) on Moralo

I second Greedo on Bossk. Ya, Bossk is init 4 so someone is going to chip a bit harder against him, but the return wallop from a nearly guaranteed crit result? Opponent doesn't spend the charge.

flying straight down the board edge is the equivalent of spawn camping in an FPS.  it may work but it clearly isnt what the game is about

I mean, it only helps you for the initial engagement and would work regardless of board position (depending on rocks). The board edge just happens to eliminate a variable of which side has to go faster to prepare for the enemy flank. Otherwise, why not leverage your 180 degree arc?

Basically to keep both the ships independent of each other.

0-0-0 and BT-1 make a great combo for boosting Moralo's damage potential/annoyance value, my aim was to make both ships viable threats to stop Bossk being the obvious first target

You know, you can Counterplay. If you think that your opponents should just fly ships at you with no deviation for you to easily flank, than you should just play an AI. It is insulting to criticize human players for making tactical decisions in response to your own: you are not the only person playing this game. Besides, 3X YV 666 is not that dreadful to play against. A tad boring perchance, but the fact that the opponent flanks with one of them saves it from becoming a complete bore.
