Would the simplest fix by far not be to simply allow iaijutsu to crit like a normal strike? it is a decent first step to fixing duels. you don't fix earth stance, but it is a step in the right direction. i also suggest increasing crossing cut TN to 3. it is a bit too strong as is, you can crossing cut with one weapon, next turn crossing cut with an offhand weapon and both of these attacks will do more dmg than regular strikes. (and since thats all you want to do, dmg, to win duels... well, you guess it. crossing cut in earth stance all day.) anyway, look at my houserules. embrace them. for they are the miracle you are waiting for. With a grain of salt, and some wisdom. There are many truth in what I say, no matter how you filter it. Though, it is a ttrpg, it really doesn't "need" to be perfect. Especially not when every table plays their specific ways and adjust how they see fit as needed. It is not a competitive game, after all. The GM can balance things out and make it fun for all. I just like to improve on things that are not smooth or fun for my table and share my experiences. I am also pretty happy with my results after a ton of trial and errors.
