 Intuitively you would be correct....

Neither can be used on e.g. 1.4FD, despite the logic of the medical droid treating the crew and the astrometry repairing the turret.

They need to fix this, and how ion relates to the above. (**&^@*!!!

Or... I have ALLLL the snowtroopers... and Veers is the perfect generic officer!

Oh, I agree, and that's more or less what I do already.  Other players might not agree, however, so while I could use the look of Veers as a generic officer, a different pose so as not to confuse my opponent would be nice.

My opponents use 70 interlocking keywords per die roll to confuse me. What goes around comes around.

Seems like it just makes that specific unit a higher targeting priority for a round until it’s dead.

I feel like the medic droids will mostly get used on commanders (healing Palpatine is like getting 40ish points back while healing a stormtrooper is 11 points).  The repair astromechs are mostly useful for the Empire since they have the bigger, more expensive ground units.  AT-RT's will still benefit of course, but it wont be as efficient.

I'm afraid with the potential emergency stims+ medical droid + emergency stims on the farmboy skywalker

this seems legit at first but you can't remove wounds off the stims, just the unit if it has any wounds. stims put the wounds on the card itself.

Given that the best (and in my experience, only) use of stims is when the unit using them is near death, there pretty much always should be wounds on the model as well.

simple, ion turns stuff off, droid goes over and plugs in and turns it back on :-D.

Yeah. I'm hoping in the near future, ion guns put tokens on droids, and field artillery pieces. Not sure what the verbage would have to be in the rulebook. But it could make ion guns a lot more fun to take, and might be important if we get probots, IG-88, etc.

Seeing this art on the banner I sort of wish FFG gave the option to run a male and female officer or to even just be able to field 1 commander and 1 in a squad per pack.

Perhaps they will release a second specialists pack.   Another officer sculpt and more upgrades - imagine some new heavy troops, stormtroopers have losts of other weapons.

A small point on alt sculpts- the generic imperial officers, to say nothing of Thrawn, for Imperial Assault don’t look terribly off next to Legion minis. And you could always use the larger hero figs from IA as alternate Rebel officers. CT-1701 or Hera Syndulla would look fine as “Rebel officers”.

the arty fire is simple its inderect area of effect weapon and they should make droids more of combatant, i mean do you remember R2D2 during the 6 movies. 😄

Doesn't seem to be their MO. No alternate sculpts, no spare parts for conversions, not even flat joins for shoulders to rotate an arm. They are keeping one foot firmly in the realm of making Monopoly and Clue pieces.

The only glimmer of hope is the different rider arms for the fist vehicle kits.

Atgars and ewebs are direct fire. And I wish they suffered ion tokens to make ion guns more viable. I am as anti-meta as it gets and I don't even take them much. It's bad.

Droid unit will probably need a keyword or another unit type clarification, as with Emplacement Trooper. They should not necessarily suffer from panic or suppression, and be immune to certain force powers, but should be vulnerable to Ion weapons in some form. Legion isn't necessarily very simulationist, but droids vs organics has a long history in Star Wars, and X-Wing went out of it's way to design a couple niche mechanics for Droid pilots and upgrades.

I don't think this is entirely fair. Ffg has been incredibly successful with x-wing.  They did this by making the game approachable and appealing to non miniature gamers.  With legion, they want to get both non gamers and gamers alike.  If you look at the progression from the core set to newer units like boba or the new speeder and tank you will see increasing complexity in the model designs.  That way, a new player can get in with a core set and learn the basics, then as they increase the size of their army, they can learn new hobby skills.  I think we may even see multi pose minis with clone wars factions.  Battle droids would be well suited for that sort of assembly.  All this said, ffg has given us an incredibly customizable at-st!

I’d rather they continue to make interesting single pose minis than waste money (and thus increase price cost to the consumer) with unneeded multiposing.

The two things that put me off this game were the focus on iconic characters and the repetition of poses through an army.  I've modified mine to avoid any obvious duplicates but any time I see an Imperial army with all the sergeants pointing forward it looks a little silly.  It reminds me of the first fantasy elf and goblin regiments I had in the nineties (with the blocks of spearmen that were the bane of cats and parents alike).

On the other hand, tabletop wargames are all a bit silly and multiposing isn't strictly needed.  I figure that if you care about posing it's not that hard to learn how to do head and arm swaps

I'm not saying it's bad. I like the models in and of themselves. I come from single pose, single piece, metal models. However I find multiple alternatives unlikely given what we've seen. What I like vs. what I think is likely is two different things. I'd also welcome more stuff but don't find it probable.

I've converted several of my figures to different poses. It did require some cutting and sculpting and some third party parts. Some of this becomes easier as they release more figures and figure types.

You can just remove wounds from model and it will not die next activation when the wounds on stims come back to it... and then, you can rest to active stims to survive another attack (potentially).
