Thanks FFG - no really

Recommended Posts

The issue I see is that complaints in social media / forums don't reach the people that can act on these until they traveled to 1+ layers of human abstraction, meaning that the person who reads our "opinions" at FFG cannot change anything themselves, at most they can go to their respective bosses and say "Hey, you know, 20 Armada guys arent happy", these bosses, if they cannot change anything might/might not carry this information further.

At some point the person that could change something might hear of it in some form, that person will likely also hear of things like production cost, return on investment, new product launch, active player count .... for many a game and might not see it so dramatically, as they are likely not an active Armada player.

I don't expect anything from a company but profit maximization, as they do not make decisions based on

is ridiculous

I find reality tends to disagree.

Eye for an eye is the way of the world.  As I stated when I originally said it, it may leave one wounded, but the assurance of mutual destruction is what keeps the peace. IF you refuse to act when slighted, then that assurance is gone and the aggressor can and most often will repeat or escalate those slights.

I'll be kind when kindness will bear results.

When the social networking team of a company I've dumped thousands of dollars into snaps back disregarding valid complaints it is not one of those moments.

Could you at least take your complaints to the complaints threads, and not spoil the threads intended to be positive?

Thanks! I agree with you about the respect part, mostly.

I disagree with you that me being new means I should take a step back. That sounds like the “appeal to authority” fallacy, which says someone who is an expert in a subject, or been there longer, trumps my own opinion. Which it does not. We are talking about opinions here, not facts. Mine isn’t invalidated because someone has been here one day longer or one lifetime.

now should I take what they have to say and think on it? Yes. I stand to learn something.

The second thing is this. A company doesn’t owe us anything, save a quality product we purchased. That’s my outlook. However, a company owes itself every chance to grow and flourish, and become better. That is where the human aspect comes in. Interaction with, listening to, and respect for customers, is big here. They begin to treat us as fellow people, not customers, and we should in turn treat them as fellow people and not a “company” that owes us. A mutual respect, like you said.

What I’m trying to say is, the human aspect of FFG isn’t strong with the Armada customers. Nor does it seem the human aspect of the community is strong either. Perhaps a return to humanity for us, and then an appeal to there humanity could inject Amarda with a boost to its life stream.

Armada is being approached poorly. It’s sad, and stinks as the new guy on the block. As I can see it sucks for old timers, and even casual players.

Saying, like some have, that the lack of focus and communication is equally as bad as the rude, insensitive, harsh language used by the community is justified, because of “an eye for an eye” and other such comments, is ridiculous. We should live above those lesser laws, and be kind even in the face of unkindness (real or imaginary). To use a cliche to counter the prior, “you  catch more bees with honey than you do with vinegar.”

I think that is at the heart of this thread. Thanks for a fun game, please know not all of us, however you do see us FFG, are so rude and unjustly entitled. We want more products to continue to enjoy.

More maybe I missed the mark.

While I agree that new players have every right to speak their mind, and their opinions are just as valid, in this case you missed this community at its best. When there was all kinds of great player driven content and this forum was brimming with positivity and good discussion.

But you can’t expect the players alone to drive the community. The developer has to help foster it, has to help grow it, has to help maintain its morale. And FFG doesn’t. And its not one incident, its a patern of behavior that extends back to the very first wave being delayed. It wouldn’t be the last. Extended periods of complete radio silence combined with sporadic and delayed releases cause games to bleed players.

But I agree that complaining on the boards doesn’t help. They’ve proven time and again they don’t care to listen. I just come here to play mafia now.

Eh I'm complained out. Points kinda moot anyways. My replies in this thread weren't meant to be complaints so much as opposed perspective to some of the opinions here.

*shrugs*

I can STFU if no one wants to hear it.

The issue with this approach is that we used up all the honey and no bees came.

Complaining (and in doing so, pretty explicitly telling FFG what we want) feels a lot better than just laying down and giving up.

You make a good point. I can see concern turn to complaint after years passing.

I might have given up, but who knows, the interest I have in Armada would be shadowed by the interest of starting out with it.

@Darth Sanguis

I tend to disagree with you on about everything you posted. But that doesn’t mean I don’t see your side happen all the time too.

The only thing I have for rebuttal is a challenge. You should try kindness in all your dealings for a while. You may be surprised, or I could be wrong. Just make sure to change your mindset with the actions too, if only temporarily, so that you are open to seeing positive results and not just waiting for negative ones.

P.s. I didn’t think you were complaining at all. I appreciate the interactions here.

Has FFG released an update to the expected arrival of the SSD expansion? Is the delay due to the Trump Tariffs?

Article reads to expect in "early" 1st Quarter 2019, but the Upcoming page still has it listed as "In Development".

Anyway, I'm having a great time with the game and my local community is actually stronger than the same time last year, but it would nice to have some feedback from FFG.

Unfortunately the upcoming page is another missed opportunity for FFG. Many times, there is little true updating between the available statuses. Often you'll see it go from at the printer to now shipping without ever getting a on the boat status.

And that's true for everything FFG makes, not just Armada.

Historically speaking, the Spanish site has been more accurate than the US site.

By ”taking a step back” i didnt mean for you to shut up or be quiet, and you absolutely have the same right to voice your opinion as anyone else.

But your opinion about the ffg/community interaction dont carry the same weight to it if you are new to it, as the opinion of someone who has been involved with it for years. Doesnt mean you are wrong or anything but you dont have the same amount of experience as others might.

Neither do i for that matter, i have lurked for a long time but never been really involved. But i do consider the opinion of the experienced more valuable then the inexperienced, in other aspects of life as well as on this topic.

While i feel ffg deserved the salty comments on twitter and forums, i also wish the overall attitude on this forum to stay positive. Nothing good EVER comes from a community in unison dismay. But when feedback and critique fall on deaf ears through the respectful and intended channels the only option left for change is to bring it to light outside of the community.

As there wont be an article before 31th February 2142 and no german version of the SSD either at all, I finally declare this game dead.

To be honest, its **** tragic. But we should face that truth as soon as possible -.-

Well ****.  Pack your things everybody.  The man has spoken, it’s over.

Although you basically just said Armada support will last for the next 123 years, so...
