Scouts Hold Out Blasters

Recommended Posts

Before I get lynched, please understand I am new to Legion. While playing yesterday for the first time, I was looking at the speeder bikes and seen the 2 separate weapons for the Scout Troopers on there. Seeing the Hold Out Blaster had 2 black dice, while the bike has 1 red, white and black, it made me wonder why would you ever use the hold out blasters? Less dice and less range. The speeder bikes are already range 1-3. Just trying to understand if there is something that I am missing. Thanks!

Ahh ok, I get it now. I didn't even think about that. So for all units, if it doesn't say "forward arc", they can shoot at 360 degrees?

Yep. Additionally, the bikes will still surge to hit with their Holdout Blasters.

The bike's gun is only good for the forward arc, while the hold out blasters can be fired 360 degrees.

Exactly this. Ran into this situation last weekend. Speeder couldn't get the troop it wanted in Arc during it's compulsory without crashing and he wanted to ensure an aim before shooting, so he rolled up next to them and holdout blaster'd my guys. It was actually pretty effective. 4 black with an aim ain't bad.

as long as you have the surge.  I've rolled up with Boba Fett and missed every attempt at a hit/crit multiple times.  My opponent, on the other hand, can't seem to miss.
