And now it's time to announce our winners and see some fleet lists...

Fielding a deceptively fragile-looking 4-ship Sloane aces build with some uncommon upgrade choices (Admiral Titus, Director Isard + Slicer Tools), Justin C. — that's Mr. Brikhause to you, sir! — took home top honors with a score of 27 and MoV of 740.

Justin's performance was very consistent for the day against a variety of fleet types, which aptly demonstrated not only his list's strengths but also his lethal skill as a squadron player.  He went 3-0 with the following scores:

Round 1 = 9-2 (374-145 / MoV 229) vs a Dodonna MC75 bomber fleet with Wedge, Norra, Dutch, Biggs, Jan and Gold Squadron.

Round 2 = 9-2 (423-155 / MoV 268) vs a Sloane aces ISD-II Avenger + Quasar Fire list with similar squadrons to his own.

Round 3 = 9-2 (400-157 / MoV 243) vs a squadronless Motti ISD Cymoon, VSD-II, Demolisher build.

I've heard Justin is now the player to beat after rampaging across the PNW Sector.  Congratulations on your win Justin, it is well deserved.

Thanks again it’s humbling to get such recognition.  I think you guys do me to much credit!

Question to @Brikhause - I'd run a similar-ish list to this once or twice, and got completely shut down by slicer tools.  I've even seen some double-slicer lists on VASSAL, recently.  How were you able to deal with those?

SECOND PLACE

Our second place player also put in an outstanding performance with his "Death on Two Ships" Thrawn ISD Avenger + aces fleet.  Congratulations to Derek S., aka @Karneck, for playing a most impressive set of games on Saturday.  Derek scored 26 points with an MoV of 746.

ty0aT9B.jpg?1

Derek's first round was a difficult Thrawn-vs-Thrawn match-up that proved to be a grueling battle with neither side gaining the upper hand.  However, in rounds 2 and 3 he really turned up the heat and notched dominating wins.  This just goes to show that in Armada you're never out of the mix!

XdTMTjW.jpg?1

Round 1 = 6-5 (274-236 /MoV 38) vs a Thrawn double VSD-I build with 10 squadrons.

Round 2 = 10-1 (329-21 / MoV 308) vs a Cracken 8-ship Hammerhead + Pelta swarm.

Round 3 = 10-1 (475-12 / MoV 463) vs a squadronless Vader ISD-II, VSD-II fleet.

MWxpRtH.jpg?1

2tpzzLh.jpg?1

Here's a quote from one of Derek's opponent's: "Favorite match was probably against Derek. That game finally made Pryce/Bail really click for me. He flew his squadrons superbly good (frustratingly good!), and using Pryce to guarantee getting a Last-First with Avenger lost me 2 ships.  Painfully educational."

So in all honesty I didn’t run into any slicer tools at the event.  By the looks of things I wouldn’t have been surprised if I was the only player that brought slicer tools there.  So I don’t have any surety to say that what I had planned had I encountered it would have worked.  I figured though that I have boosted coms, Rhymer, jendon with Marek, and Sloan.   So I felt that I had such reach in the squadron game that I could deal with slicer tools before they close in.  Most slicer tools lists don’t have much in squadrons and dual slicer tool lists absolutely don’t. So it allows my squadrons to roam freely.   With the nine deployments I was confident to get seperation from any dual slicer tool lists and be able to destroy the slicer ship before it got in the way.

Plus as a backup plan the list is a rhymerball that doesn’t have to adhere to being in BCC range I don’t necessarily have to have squadron commands for the squadrons to be effective just predict where my opponent will be and get my squadrons there the turn prior.

So I had a lot of answers to deal with slicers which is why I thought I didn’t need SFO or pursuant in the list.  I could be wrong though.

@Red Castle Games thank you for the amazing event. It was so wonderfully run and the hosts were amazing. Traveling up from Boise with limited gameplay I was nervous, but you guys made it easy and comfortable to play.

I'm glad you decided to make the flight from Boise and join us for the day, carthwolf.  You had a great fleet and some lightsaber-hot dice!  Poor @xanderf never even got to shoot with Baron Fel or Howlrunner.

I get nervous at tournaments too, but as you've found the Armada community in the PNW is very welcoming so hopefully you'll join us for some big events in the future.

THIRD PLACE

After a pair of Imperial fleets took 1st and 2nd, it was time for the Rebels to get their due!  Our top Rebel player of the day took 3rd place piloting an MC80CC bomber fleet with Yavaris, a pair of decked-out Transports, the best of the best ace pilots and good ol' General Dodonna.  He also had our second highest bid of the day at 15 points (just 2 points less than Justin).

u64jEQ2.jpg?1

Jamison F. [Imperial Prisoner ID Number @Stovrose38] made the Kessel run from Bremerton to Portland in 12 parsecs on the morning of the tournament, which is no easy feat if you're familiar with the traffic on I-5.

Having been extensively tortured by the Empire and bad drivers on the trip down, Jamison used his Store Championship bye to give himself some time to recover.  This was a risky move, but it paid off as he notched his best win of the day in the 3rd round as fatigue was starting to set in across the field.  Jamison finished the day with 24 points and an MoV of 522.  Nicely done, sir!

gCTVhwV.jpg?2

Round 1 = 8-3 (140 MoV) Store Championship Bye

Round 2 = 7-4 (271-189 / MoV 85) vs a Sloane ISD-II Avenger fleet with Demolisher, Stele, Ree, Rudor, Jendon and friends.

Round 3 = 9-2 (420-123 / MoV 277) vs the Thrawn double VSD-I build + 10 squadrons list Derek S. battled in the 1st round.

Take your time. I'm loving the attention you're giving to each player. It's an awesome touch.

This was an amazingly well run event, so I am not surprised at the level of detail the pics and lists are receiving.  Looking forward to the other lists and placings.  Also whoever took 4th is one sexy beast.  Just saying.. :)

Thanks for the awesome summaries @Red Castle Games! I've got all the fleets up to this point inputted into the Regionals data sheet.

Were the Portland regional lists posted somewhere?  There were a few lists I was curious about that were there but I didn’t get a chance to look at them in detail.

Not yet, but they're coming.  I'm sorry for the delay in my Forums Jedi training Master Brikhause.  I had a Force vision while inputting fleet lists into Armada Warlords that my KeyForge friends were in trouble of missing out on a tournament this weekend — I had to go help them!

In other words, I've been swamped with catching up on KeyForge stuff that I had to put on hold for the Armada regional.  I'll do some more data entry tomorrow and get lists 4-8 posted along with more pics.

They're better than you.   They're smarter than you.   They're more popular than you.

But goddamit people like you.

@thecactusman17, thank you for the comforting words, they are much appreciated!  My parents would say the same thing to me each night before I fell asleep in my Luke Skywalker PJs.  Except that last part, they left that off for some reason.  Man, I'm feeling pretty nostalgic right now.  I might have to curl up with my Star Wars blankie and cry myself to sleep like a grieving Ewok.

Of course, the only reason people still like me after Regionals is that they didn't have to watch me play Armada.  I love this game — it's by far my favorite minis game stretching all the way back to Space Hulk in the late 80s.  However, my flying is as ugly as that musical scene from the RotJ special edition.

But enough of my childhood rambling, let's get down to business.  Back to the fleet lists!

FOURTH PLACE

Here's our final fleet for the top four and once again it's the Rebels getting their revenge.  I feel like this tournament had some nice parity between the 2 factions.  We had 11 Rebels vs 13 Imperials with 2 of each faction placing in the top 4.  It's almost like Armada is in a great place now with lots of fleet options and balance between the factions.

Before I delve into this fleet, it looks as though @themightyhedgehog has the inside scoop on our 4th place contestant:

That's quite the fun fact, hedgehog!  They do say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and who am I to judge?  After all, I find Ithorians adorable 🤗

Our 4th place player also took a Yavaris Rebel aces bomber build, but it was very different from Jamison's list.  This fleet had no large ship to anchor it, choosing to use a variety of smaller ships with interesting effects (hello Officer Leia!) to deliver massive bombing runs and manipulate objective tokens.

jf7bVSF.jpg?1

Congratulations to Mark G. on his success at the Red Castle Regional!  He ended the day with 22 points and 684 MoV.  Besides being so good looking, here are some more relevant facts to Mark's fleet and performance for the day:

1.  Mark was our only player in the top 4 who had no bid.  His fleet clocked in at the full 400 points.  His other opponents had 400, 392 and 389 points respectively.  Mark, I'm curious to know how many times you went first and second?

2.  Mark was also the only top-4 player who lost a game.  He faced @Admiral Theia's squadronless triple Cymoon JJ list in the opener and she dealt him a 3-8 loss in what was our quickest game of that round.

9yqxnFp.jpg?1

3.  However, Mark also made a huge comeback on turns 2 and 3!  I think this bears special mention.  I've seen players drop their opening game and it affects their decision making for the entire day, leading to second-guessing or reckless play — I know it's happened to me before.  Mark weathered his loss and then doubled his efforts to score a 9-2 and then a 10-1.  Resilience, it's a beautiful thing.  Of course, according to themightyhedgehog it's not as beautiful as Mark 😉

4.  While he came in 4th, Mark had the 3rd highest MoV of the tournament.

5.  Finally, Mark had a different ship (and nicely painted in a striking crimson red to boot) on 1 of his flotilla stands to denote Leia.  That's a nice touch.

OnJC21I.jpg?1

Round 1 = 3-8 (280-475 / MoV 0) vs the aforementioned JJ Triple Cymoons.

Round 2 = 9-2 (520-236 / MoV 284) vs a Vader ISD-II + Kuat Avenger fleet with 5 TIEs flying CAP.

Round 3 = 10-1 (565-91 / MoV 474) vs a Sloane ISD-II Avenger and Demolisher list with Ciena, Valen, Saber, Maarek Stele and Stele's Imperial BFF Colonel Jendon.
