Extremely jealous, I've been told we won't see copies in New Zealand till next month.

Hell, I still haven't seen a copy of Runewars anywhere...

The figures are quite small (which adds to the scale of this epic conflict) and if I were to paint them (which immideately entered my mind as I unpacked the game) I would base coat them and then pick out some of the important details by drybrushing.

Veldrin, do you think that drybrushing alone, without basecoating would do the job?

I was thinking of the gray minis. It is difficult to add a proper drybrushing colour to them... White?

Perhaps on the Chaos units but probably not on the Imperial ones as the grey is very light.

Personally I would spray them white and use washes which looks way better than drybrushing IMO and is just as easy.

Back on topic though, I should be receiving my copy tomorrow, but probably won't be able to get a game in until the following week.  At least I will have some time to work out the rules with the actual pieces in front of me which is nice.

Just got a copy of game.  I have to agree with Veldrin, the figures are smaller then I thought they would be, but like he said, they have to be present some semblance of scale.  I really don't have a problem with that.

Some cards are smaller then normal which is a little odd.  I'd have rather had them all one size so finding protetive covers wouldnt be a problem-maybe FFG will have custom covers in the future?

In terms of eye candy, I like it, and have to give thumbs up.  Well, off to go read the rest of the rules.  Ill comment after I read them, and again after a game or two.

Well, I got my copy yesterday :D. I tried to apply wash on the minis, as Szlachcic suggested, but it did not work: the paint didn't want to adhere. So I risked just drybrushing and it worked excellently. Loyalists - white, Red minis - pink, Green - light green, Blue - light blue. The effect is really worh the effort, and the effort is pretty low and quite entertaining. To my surpriee gray minis look great after white drybrushing - like made of stone! Actually every mini after drybrushing looks great. And yeah, they are really small (much smaller than Chaos in the Old World cultists), but are made of very hard plastic. Excellent material. Considering their size, they are really packed with details.

A little disapointing are plastic factories, strongholds and the palace. The structures look nicer as paintings on the board than the plastic ones. On the other hand, plastic scupltures add something nice to the look of the plain board and introduce some order on the map filled with minis.

Anyway, I am the happiest person in the middle Europe now :). Joy with me :).
