Trandoshan and The Scorekeeper

Recommended Posts

Hello community!

This is the background: I do the majority of the gm stuff in our group, but from time to time another player takes the gm seat and I have the opportunity to play as a character. Nevertheless at the beginning ot each session I give the other gm's character a few minutes of spotliight before he takes over. The character is a trandoshan pilot. So the last time the trandoshan was called back to his home planet to participate in a ceremony of The Scorekeeper. He arrived there savely.

So, my question for our nest sessions under his lead is: What do we know about Trandoshans and The Scorekeeper in particular? How could the ceremony look like, and what could happen during the ceremony with said character? The final, as it is planed now, should be a (melee) fight against another champion of The Scorekeeper. Nevertheless some hints for any social interactions before would be great. Nothing major, because I have just a few minutes, and the other players are waiting tho they don't mind waiting a bit.

Thanks all!

Thanks for the hint, Tramp. I did know most of the facts from that page as I played TOR for a while. Anyway I'd be happy to get some hints and ideas from fellow gamers in regards what I asked in my original post.

I would suggest tracking down and destroying some big game rather than fighting another champion of Scorekeeper. Champions complete for points, not directly with each other.

As an aside, my pilot Transdoshan in the Rebellion comes from a heretical sect that moved with the times, and now believes the strongest big game is the Empire, and earns his points destroying their high value targets!

Good point, Darzil. I think The Scorekeeper does not reduce the point-giving to just game but every (strong) opponent counts (at least thats how I remember it from TOR). Wookiies as neighbors in the same solar system just were the obvious choice, moreso as they are formidable fighters.

As to the OP,

I think a Scorekeeper ceremony is going to resemble a series of "fishing stories" with the best story advancing.  (Don't forget the requisite 'feast').

Okay let me set this up.  Each year (or some other regular time period, like say four years) Trandoshans return to their clan of affiliation and attend a local Scorekeeper ceremony where an assigned adjudicator (and the crowd) listen to, judge, score, and assign Jaggantha points for each participant.

Participation is voluntary to those who think that they completed a worthy hunt.  Others would attend to listen to the crazy tales, good grub, & inspiration.

As an added twist the local champion would then participate in regional ceremonies where they would boast of their greatest victory, in turn to determine who was regionally the "greatest hunter."

And this would eventually build up to a final ceremony for the regional victors who would vie for the "World Championship," which would be worth additional Jaggantha points.

So, I think that's how I'd handle it.

If you're going for a lengthy ceremony, and not just a ritual combat, I would suggest having a small bit, at least mentioned if not actually played out, where they read off his Score.  "And lo, upon the 75th Cycle on the Planet Hughdal, 'RRrrsskkaarrssskkaaa did slay a Hoogie Dee Boodie!  And it was most awesome! *crowd responds* 'Most awesome!" "5 Points for Gryffindor!   And lo, upon the 85th Cycle on the Asteroid 29473, 'RRrrsskkaarrssskkaaa did slay 15 Mercenaries single handedly!  And it was most awesome!" *crowd* "Most awesome!" 15 Points for Gryffindor!"

etc etc.

If it's supposed to be a ceremony "in the eyes of the Scorekeeper", then actually listing his achievements seems like a valid part of their religion system.

Then if you are following it up with ritual combat, then just do whatever.  But I think it would be fitting for a collection of trophy hunters, to spend some time bragging to each other about the trophies they've collected.  Since that what most actual trophy hunters do, a lot of it is about the bragging rights to their fellows.

Thanks all! Awesome tips here. I think, I got the main bits fixed. Do you know the name of the first ep of the arc by chance, @Eoen

Season 3 episode 21 Padawan lost, and episode 22 Wookiee hunt.

That's an amazing character concept!
