Vayas Force Roll Call including new scout Troopers

Thought it was about time I had a roll call of forces...I have the extra unit addons all painted but didnt have them included here.

 

Not sure about you lot...but even with a few dodgy faces/sculpts such as Leia and maybe even han(not too bad) but I LOVE painting this Legion Range.

Great job on all your miniatures. I really like your color choices and weathering techniques. The swaps look great. I did an entire Fleet Trooper squad with alien heads for some variety too.

Really nice work.  Can you tell us a little more about your basing materials and process?  I have tried grassy bases but they always seem to come out sort of limp and not very interesting:

Thanks a lot.  I loved the sculpt (I love the Scouts from my childhood) but did find a few of them a bit repetitive with 2 boxes, 2 of the figures in a box are pretty similar so that means 4 are pretty similar overall.

 

I did try mod them a little bit but im not that good at it and found it much harder than the Stormtroopers to change.

Thanks.  Yes my process is a little longer than what you have done...I always think grass/flocks right onto a base always look a little bit like a well cut Gold green.

First of all, once the figures are painted, I base the whole base area with muddy basing product, it gives it some realism imo....even though you cant really see it once the flock is on.  IMO its worth the extra effort.  I am in the UK and use a really cheap mud product but I cant remember the name(can get it tonight if you want).

 

IMO its the adding of some mud that changes the base from little uninspiring to a lot more realistic.

 

Once thats does, I basically use Sorastros method, which can be followed exactly on the vid i posted below from 20.50.

 

On the scouts and Commandos I also added some grass tufts.

Edit to add...its just my personal choice but ive always felt Black painted base edges make things stand out more too.

Just went in the woods and picked up loads of little bits of sticks and broke em up ?
