Duciris 1,347 Posted October 2, 2018 (edited) On the subject of Arkham Nights and Invocation 2018, here's a new article: Never Sleep Again. It details the ramifications of GenCon's playthrough of The Night's Usurpers and what it will mean for Arkham Nights' players. One can only image some similar article after Arkham Nights to further enclose its impact upon the community. Edited October 2, 2018 by Duciris

Yup, if you only want to see what net effects will be in the second mission - for official Arkham Nights play, it looks like you'll play with whatever outcome you get in the first scenario - you can read the bolded sections of the article, although they too are spoilers. I know it's very limited around there. It's hard enough to find parking on a normal Fri/Sat night. For Arkham, it's not that bad. It's Worlds that gets crazy. There are some spaces in their primary area (front of the store) that are for neighboring areas (AutoZone, etc.). They also now have the parking lot across the road from that lot. Those won't both fill up. They don't both full fill up during either Summer (Star Wars) or Winter (everything else) Worlds, so there should be plenty of room. The FFG Center will still be open for business and gaming as usual, but Arkham Nights will take up the second room. If it's there are enough players, they'll also use some of their front gaming room. From the announcement: Quote The Portal is Open Mark your calendars! The nightmare begins when the doors open at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, October 19, and continues until the final stroke of midnight on Saturday, October 20. Steel your nerves and prepare to stand against dark forces unlike anything you have ever seen! We’ll be waiting. So I'll be taking a half-day and driving down Friday! MGlas1 28 Posted October 3, 2018 Also they have a gravel lot across the street for parking. I think the last two Arkham Nights, we have had to park across the street. Not bad. They also do have parking behind the building, but I think they would prefer that those are only for staff. I don't really know. I park there often too, and haven't ever gotten yelled at. Regardless, you won't have an issue with parking.

I'm 50/50 on that - it would make sense, don't get me wrong, but equally it'll be a little close to pack 5 of TFA coming out, and apparently there is a pattern of announcing between packs 4 & 5. Still, patterns were made to be disrupted, were they not?

Still, patterns were made to be disrupted, were they not? yeah - I think the pattern is based on pack 4 being 3 months before new cycle - so it was a timing point rather than based on the point in the sequence of mythos packs. But yes... And I should add, I don't know what announcing it at Arkham Nights would necessarily offer to participants there or to people unable to attend. I just wondered about that as a plausible alternative timing.

Well, it adds a little perceived value to those attending for being there when something is announced - and they can then launch the post on the FFG site an hour later and everyone is covered. CSerpent 520 Posted October 4, 2018 Blood on the Altar (third pack of Dunwich) released - April 13, 2017 Path to Carcosa announced - April 17, 2017 The Pallid Mask (fourth pack of Carcosa) released - January 25, 2018 The Forgotten Age announced - January 31, 2018 City of Archives (fourth pack of Forgotten Age) released - September 13, 2018 ?? I think it's going to be at Arkham Nights. There have been some cryptic tweets from FFG, reposted by Matt Newman on different Discord channels. The art doesn't look particularly Arkhamic, but we'll see.
Duciris 1,347 Posted October 4, 2018 (I love how far off the Invocation 2018 we are on this thread.) TFA Pack 5 (The Depths of Yoth) is releasing on the 10th. Reasoning: It was added to the Upcoming page 9/26/2018 same as the Scorpion clan pack (Underhand of the Throne), which has since been stated as releasing on the 10th of October. 28 minutes ago, CSerpent said: Blood on the Altar (third pack of Dunwich) released - April 13, 2017 Path to Carcosa announced - April 17, 2017 The Pallid Mask (fourth pack of Carcosa) released - January 25, 2018 The Forgotten Age announced - January 31, 2018 City of Archives (fourth pack of Forgotten Age) released - September 13, 2018 ?? The art doesn't look particularly Arkhamic, but we'll see. That's why I started the 4th Cycle speculation page - the timing was getting away from the norm. Arkham Nights diffidently makes sense (I mean, I wouldn't do it, but it makes sense from a marketing perspective) as it runs October 19th & 20th. Also, I happened to be in the cities this past weekend and decided to preorder Arkham Horror 3.0 with the expectations that it would release 2 weeks early at Arkham Nights, or at least be purchasable by Winter Worlds (the next 2 times I would be there) and I wanted to ensure that I got the hardcover rules. I am now 98% positive that they are releasing AH3 at Arkham Nights. Subtle the staff was not. The 2% doubt comes from last year when they were supposed to release the newest MoM2 expansion but there was a delay and it did not.
CSerpent 520 Posted October 4, 2018 Hm, that means each cycle is announced one pack later than the last. So the fifth cycle will be announced after the sixth pack of the fourth. And the sixth cycle will be announced after it is released. 7 dysartes, rsdockery, Goshiu and 4 others reacted to this

I think this resulted in Carcosa getting announced earlier than they had planned. I wouldn't use this date to draw a line. I put the announcement anytime between tomorrow and end of October. So yeah, pretty soon. 1 rsdockery reacted to this

rsdockery 537 Posted October 16, 2018 It'll be a little weird if the Arkham Nights attendees walk away with only the latter half of the mini-campaign, but FFG's done weirder things.

This is what I expected to be honest. I'd rather have the full set, but those that went to gencon didn't get Usurper's and it is a 2-part sort of event. It would also be weird to have people who went to gencon show up at Arkham Nights and have 2 copies of the first scenario. I might have to see if I can nab the other half online somewhere or just repurchase the full set and see if I can sell my copy from Arkham Nights. Maybe I should get it signed by Kevin in case I do sell it just for neat-o factor.
