Gengis Jon 222 Posted September 22, 2018 My local game shop is going to be running some 500-pt competitions. Last night, I experimented with a Leia list, w 2x z-6 trooper squads, strike sniper, sabo commando, an AT-RT laser. Had fun, but overall wasn’t impressed. I’m thinking I’ll prolly switch to either a Luke or Han -based list and probably drop the the full commando squad for two sabo strike teams. Anyone running a 500-point list they’re loving? Love to hear from Imperial players, too, especially anyone that’s been playing with Scouts (or not.) 1 LordBubba reacted to this
Hoffburger 209 Posted September 23, 2018 I doubt anyone is focusing on 500 point competitive lists since the game was not really built to function properly at that point level. The rebel commanders are likely really really good at that point level compared to imperial ones.

I know everyone is focused on building bigger and broader armies (which, don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying too) but smaller armies — and consequently quicker games — can certainly have their place as well. With commandos and scouts we now have the ability to create some really interesting smaller lists. Indeed, I think we’re finally getting to a place now where 3 x 3 games can be a hellava lot of fun. And if anything, smaller maps have the potential to make Imperials more competitive, esp for Vader-based armies. 2 LordBubba and BenBot reacted to this
armada439 18 Posted September 24, 2018 Are there any rules on army comp? 2 or 3 squads of corps minimum? For Empire; I'd probably run Veers w/Emergeny Stims(88), 2 Stormtroopers w/DLT (68+68), 3 Speeder Bikes (90+90+90) = 494 Points For 3 Corps; Same thing but with 3 Naked Stormtroopers = 490 Points (Throw some Concussion Grenades around if you want) Strategy: Rush with Veers and the Bikes, Cover flanks with the troopers. Really make Veers into a tank, try to keep damage off the bikes 1 LordBubba reacted to this

Not sure if that’s how OP’s store is running the events though since he has 2 Special Forces listed in his build. I’d think you’d want to reduce the max from the standard build rules on everything by 1 personally. 1 Commander 2-4 Corps 0-1 Operative 0-1 Special Forces 0-1 Support 0-1 Heavy Edited September 24, 2018 by FSD 1 LordBubba reacted to this
armada439 18 Posted September 24, 2018 That is probably a fair assumption - otherwise I think it would be hard to not take 3x Bikes or 3x AT-RT depending on your faction 1 LordBubba reacted to this

BenBot 155 Posted September 24, 2018 (edited) I really like the idea of 500pt 3’x3’ games for the sake of space and time! The Take the Hill event calls for (0-1) Special, Support and Heavy but the Gathering Forces calls for (0-2) Special and Support (0-1) Heavy. I wish they were the same but I guess variety is the idea. I love AT-RT’s so 2 is better than 1 for me! My Take the Hill list I haven’t gotten to run yet is: Leia - 90pts Troopers +1 w/Z-6 - 72pts Troopers +1 w/Z-6 - 72pts Troopers w/Z-6 - 62pts Troopers w/Z-6 - 62pts Commandos - 60pts AT-RT w/Flamer - 80pts Total : 498pts Edited September 24, 2018 by BenBot 2 Gengis Jon and LordBubba reacted to this
Gengis Jon 222 Posted September 25, 2018 Our first round of 3x3 500-pt games this weekend was a lot of fun. I think I’m hooked. They just feel so much more... manageable. Haven’t run this list yet, but I think it’ll be next. What do you guys think? Maybe fire chickens instead? Or one of each. 500-pt Solo & The Chickens (498/800) Han Solo (120) - Hunter (6) - Emergency Stims (8) = 134 total points Rebel Troopers (40) - Z-6 Trooper (22) = 62 total points Rebel Troopers (40) - Z-6 Trooper (22) = 62 total points Rebel Commandos (60) AT-RT (55) - AT-RT Laser Cannon (35) = 90 total points AT-RT (55) - AT-RT Laser Cannon (35) = 90 total points 2 LordBubba and BenBot reacted to this

Fun, but it’s hard to use sabo strikers. With only two minis it’s doesnt take much for them to disappear. I think from now I’ll prolly limit my strike teams to snipers, at least they have some standoff. 1 LordBubba reacted to this

Yeah I agree, Sniper is much better suited to the strike teams vs. the Sabo. Probably especially so in small games where there is more chance of them being targeted. Your double laser-AT-RT would probably do well. Especially if people at your store like to bring armor as well! 2 LordBubba and Gengis Jon reacted to this
LordBubba 125 Posted October 20, 2018 I really like this idea of 500 point lists. The only question I have is the game length. is it five rounds or six rounds. Also it allows for new players easily get into the game at 500 points you could buy a core box and play a game with it ? 1 Gengis Jon reacted to this
