What future Empire units?

I guess you could come out with hoth troopers. I just feel like we kind of already have them, just paint them like hoth troopers and there’s no difference idk

There's a huge difference. That's like saying you could just paint stormtroopers thighs black and call them scout troopers. Now rebel commandos, THOSE we already had.

I would vote for Navy Troopers, Mud Troopers, AT-DP, AT-PT, and most of all an upgrade pack for the stormtroopers. Should include rucksacks, pauldrons, and pouches like the sandtrooper had. And some different arm poses with alternativeweapons like the T-21, PLT missile launcher, RT-97c, pending on what is still canon or however their agreement with Disney works.

I think Navy troopers are the most obvious bang for the buck. They'd really compliment Endor boards, or onboard ships, and add some much needed textual variety to the Imperial models available.

In the vein of the Imperial Specialists pack, I would love to see a heavy weapons upgrade - stormtroopers with the t-7 and flamethrower and snowtroopers with the dlt and rocket launcher.

Lets you keep your force thematic if you want.

I admit this isn't likely at all however.

Agreed. From the pics of the Imperial specialist pack, that is coming out at some point, it has a generic Line/Navy officer and a navy trooper with a Radio backpack. There is definantly demand for them based on the amount of post about them. I'm sure it hasn't gone unnoticed.

Actually, I believe it is not a navy trooper, but more an ISB agent like Kallus from Rebels.

So the idea would be snowtrooper figures with a DLT heavy but using a stormtrooper card? Cause letting any unit take any heavy weapon will get pretty ridiculous.

No, the idea is that they do a new heavy card that is priced accordingly with the base unit.  A stormtrooper with a DLT heavy upgrade won't cost the same as a snowtrooper with a DLT heavy card.   While the cost may only be one or two points, it will allow different play styles for each trooper unit.

Plus if you want to field nothing but basic stormtroopers you can, each with a different heavy option.   Now not all options are going to be super beneficial, for instance the snow troopers and the rocket launcher don't have synergy, but it provides an option to players.

This still requires a purchase of the trooper expansion (or core set), and the heavy option upgrade set.

Anyone notice literally all the units are right handed? I’d like to see some representation of the left handed people in my future empire units lol. I guess the emperor is not an equal employer?

The Fleet trooper unit leader seems to be left handed, at least he holds his weapon on that hand. And the flametrooper from the Snowtroopers ?

What noticed is that the art has her holding her gun level as in combat, while the miniature looks more like she is about to execute a prone prisoner/incompetent lackey.

yeah i don't like that, gun should be aimed level or down but not execution down.

Funny you say that, because I had the exact same thought when I started to paint my Stormtroopers... until I got to the one holding his blaster with his left hand! Now this guy will alway be the last to die!... except for the commander... and the heavy weapon... well he’ll be the third last one to die! Power to the left-handed!

Fun history fact: from the early 20th century back it was considered unnatural to be left handed. Hence is why all weaponry and military order of arms was designed for right handedness exclusively. Perhaps the empire employs a similar doctrine.

Yeah, as a left handed, I didn't like baseball at school because they didn't have gloves for lefties and same for guitar lessons with only guitars for righthanded...

as for history, here's a fun little read: https://allthatsinteresting.com/left-handedness-evil

I'd like to see Patrol Stormtroopers

450?cb=20180822030425

It would be interesting if Shoretroopers were some kind of special elite infantry where you had two options.... You could either field only 1 squad of them or you could have a single shoretrooper for each normal stormtrooper squad to add bonuses to the squad. So either have them all in one bad *** squad or divide their strengths amongst your army

That's not why. They did think left handers and many other non-conformists should be beaten into line in society at large. But in the military, everyone needed to be the same so that you presented a consistent wall of points (with spears, and later bayonets) to ward off cavalry. A left hander in the midst would create a gap between two points that a horse (or tauntaun!) would instinctively go for, if being spurred onward. It only takes one horseman successfully penetrating the formation to set the dominoes falling to doom a few hundred infantrymen. It's also so that when spear (or musket) formations wheeled around while marching and stuff, the left handed person's weapon wouldn't be in the "wrong" place relative to all the other weapons and get tangled on it, rapidly turning the formation into a Three Stooges routine. Spears aren't right or left handed, but it matters which hand you hold them in relative to your friends, and all your other odds and ends of gear can be placed "right or left handed" in relation to the hand you are holding your primary weapon in. So even gear that is hand-agnostic winds up being right-handed. Until you get into the age of muskets which do have a handedness, and the placement of all their accoutrements matters too.

Also it becomes a logistical (and therefore money!) issue to provide left-handed items. So they just don't/didn't bother. Which is more of the modern reason.
