What future Empire units?

To my taste at least, Imperials feel like they're in a fairly satisfying position with the currently announced line-up. I'd like to see Deathtroopers as a shootier alternative to Royal Guards, and I'd like to have an Operative who's a real imperial, maybe Iden.

I like the Occupier Tank from rogue 1, but what role would it serve that the At-st doesn't already do? Mudtroopers are cool, but what should they be, other than cheaper stormtroopers?

It's on the rebel side where I look at the options and wish there were a different choice in nearly every category. The T-47, the immobile 1.4FD Laser Cannon, The rebel AT-RT all struggle to be desirable in a list. I also wish there were better heavy weapon carriers in most rebel units.

That's an ATDT. All of its weapons are at range 4+? Instead of the AtSt's weakspot being its rear arc, the ATDT's weak spot is everywhere outside its forward arc?

I'd kind of like to see the patrol transport or Imperial troop transport from rebels. They're not pretty to look at, but it would be cool to introduce the function of transports to legion.

I'd really like to see that tank too, it could be a moving fortress as we already know by the RRG that if it comes out it will give heavy cover to troopers. Maybe have less hardpoints and firepower than the AT-ST, but lower cost, similar HP and no weak spot.
The only problem I see is that I don't know if it can fit well in the huge base or if it will exceed it.

Irrelevant. It's a miniatures game. New sculpts are their own justification.

If that's the player mentality they wanted to cater to with a release, they'd just come up with a pilot or something that "fixes" the AT-ST. I'm not convinced that it's not worth its points though. Regardless, the "competitive" approach will always make many or most units out to be not worth taking. In that mindset there will always be something better that you should take another one of, instead of taking [whatever].  That being said, I DO have trouble fitting it into 800 point lists unless I take next to no upgrades on it. This is because my corps troops are so expensive. But some people like collecting vehicles and there should be a market for them.

A squad of 3 corps troops tauntaun riders could be impressively underpowered compared to Fleet Troopers or something, and I'd still buy six boxes. Sales have as much to do with collecting as they do stats.

The inability to properly balance a new game the first time out is a pretty common problem throughout all games. If the AtSt was 150pts maybe 155pts base my tune would be different. Then you could r u n it naked and not feel you were skimping on troops which are obligatory. I think the cheaper characters help like generic officer and Veers. While Palpatine is cool, his huge investment in points is almost prohibitive

There are plenty of ideas to come. I’m sure we will see almost all of the above from other posts.

Honestly, aside from buying the scouts/Boba and the specialists we know are coming, I will probably wait and see what the clone wars offering looks like. I think I might want a 2nd army to get more games in (luring people in with a game they don’t need to bring materials to), but I’m not overly interested in the rebels and I don’t have the funds right this moment anyway (I even traded off my core set Rebels since I was going Empire only).

Thinking Empire + CIS, assuming I have the funds to venture into 2.

they look similar enough that I'd say mut troopers are just a variant of imp army.

The game needs vehicles badly. Right now almost nothing has much board presence outside of the AT-ST. You can walk right by a table and not even realize it's a Star Wars game. Having huge vehicles is certainly eye catching. Personally I would like to see the TX-130T fighter tank

Stormtroopers are more "Star Wars" than any vehicle. If they can't tell you're playing a Star Wars game something is seriously amiss, and no fightr tank is going to fix that.
