Syragar 0 Posted April 6, 2010 My group had a few CE games this weekend. One of my friends was playing as Fungus. The power for Fungus says "As a main player or ally, after you win an encounter in which you have at least one ship, use this power to capture any losing ships, stacking them under one or more of your ships in the encounter instead of sending them to the warp". In the first encounter in which Fungus was victorious, he had only one ship in the encounter. He took EVERY opposing ship and stacked it under his one ship... making for a rather large stack. There was confusion as to whether the rule would be to stack only one ship for each ship he has in the encounter, or if he was correct in taking every single opposing ship under his one ship. Another question is what happens to the stack if... say... Shadow targeted it for execution? My thought is that the entire stack would go to the warp. Also, what would happen if a stack was lost to Void? Would the entire stack be permanently destroyed?

Nothing illegal here. "Capture any shiplosing ships... ...under one or more of your ships...". There's no mention of a per ship limit whatsoever. So if he had 4 ships in the encounter, and there were 10 losing ships, he could distribute them 3-3-2-2, or 4-3-2-1, or even 10-0-0-0. Thus comes the dynamic of "should I even out my stacks to be more flexible and resistant, or should I throw everything onto one ship so it would be unstoppable but lose everything if it's picked off".Syragar said: Another question is what happens to the stack if... say... As for Void, I see no alternative.
Syragar 0 Posted April 7, 2010 Wow! That makes Fungus extremely powerful! Especially in games with lots of players where they can take a mass of allied ships!
crimhead 18 Posted April 8, 2010 Fungus is indeed a good power. Its not as deadly as Void because the ships can return, but it has the advantages of provided bonuses as well as working as an ally. Even with a bonus, Fungus will lose ships. When they lose ships with stacks underneath, the players get those ships back. You shouold avoid opposing Fungus with more than one ship unless you're pretty sure you can win or you figure it's worth the loss for the compensation. Part of funguses strength is that deterring factor - players will be reluctant to ally against him. fungus will frequently be invited too - both to deter players from allying with the other side, and out of fear that Fungus might ally with the other side themself. Kobold Curry Chef 30 Posted April 19, 2010 Of course, watching Fungus try to make a stack that high will be hilarious. Even with the FFG ships, a stack of 11 is going to be really unwieldy...
