Skull Forge Stuff

Recommended Posts

I noticed Skull Forge Studios doesn't have a thread here. Thought I'd start one. I started finally painting my Legion stuff this weekend and started with my Skull Forge Necro troopers.

The Necro Troopers are perfectly scaled to regular Stormies and are the right chunkiness to match the Legion style, which my OCD is a stickler for. Hopefully other folks better at painting than I can share their stuff too.

Both Skullforge and 4-a-duel now shows zero items in the shapeways store.

Did they receive a cease&desist or something? Mel's miniatures seems unaffected.

Edit: Disregard, seems to have been a temporary error.

The detail on the Deathtrooper is really nice. You also did a great job painting it up. As far as scale, I honestly think if you straighten those Stormtroopers legs they would stand eye to eye.

I too like that Skull Forge Studios has that same chunky look to them. I am planning on buying a squad of Shore Troopers. They have got to be my favorite addition to the Star Wars Universe since Disney purchased Lucasfilm. They have an almost familiar look (scout trooper) while still looking unique.

Skull Forge has a nice selection of individual miniatures so you can customize a squad as large or as small as you want and even dip into a third faction look for your squads.

Skull Forge are brilliant. My only quibble - and I stress this is a very minor issue that most people likely won't care about at all I'm just whatever the sci-fi equivalent of a rivet-counter is - is that sometimes weapon sizes can be a smidge inconsistent(the E-11s on the weapon sprue, the Ember Squad Loyalist, and the KX droids for example are all slightly different, being smaller/FFG sized/bigger respectively, though the KX are understandable since the original models were scaled up a bit when he went to slightly more "heroic" proportions to match the FFG models better).

Didn't stop me ordering a bunch of stuff of course :P Going to use the Ember Squad models(helmeted) including a couple of conversions(to avoid duplicates) as, for now, a Scout Sniper team and a unit of Snowtroopers. Also considering using the four KXs as Royal Guard, since I've no intention of ever getting those(in my mind they're linked too inextricably to Vader and old Papa Palps, and I won't be using either of them except for occasional narrative scenario games).

The "objective" models are maybe my favourite though, the Scientist and the Rebel Pilot have so much character.

@Skullforge I really like your miniatures. I like how they scale along side Legion miniatures.

I had requested a Republic Commando squad on another thread, as well as Imperial Pilots, Shore Troopers, and Empire Strikes Back Bounty Hunters. Honestly you are creating my dream game. The Republic Commando squad would replace the Wookie Warriors. The Imperial Pilots and Shore Troopers would be Stormtrooper squad replacements and ESB Bounty Hunters would run along Boba Fett.

I visit your shapeways store often as I enjoy looking at your work.

Maybe Rebel Pilots (X, B, and A wing) with a Helmetless Wedge Antilles will make it on your store to counter the "Ember Squad".

A "Baron Administrator" from Cloud City along with a Wing Guard squad.

Admiral Ackbar has always been on my wishlist along with a long-shot for Lobot from ESB.

4-LOM and Zuckuss in both Legion and Imperial Assault scale.

Please keep up the amazing work and I wish you much success.

The Tin-man is great! If there were more poses they would make a great unit of counts-as Wookies. ;)

Yes the Tin-Man has a nice dynamic pose I can't wait for the rest of the ESB Bounty Hunters to make it to Skull Forge Studios shop. His first Bounty Hunter "Fengar" looks really good too.

@Skullforge After viewing your Republic Commando figures I think I want to paint and mount them exactly as they appear in your 3D viewer. It gave a whole new meaning to "head up your rear". Gave me a really good laugh.

They are going to make a really cool replacement for either Wookie Warriors or Royal Guards and of course what ever we get when the Clone Wars edition is released.

Your miniatures are showing up in several painting threads and I must say they all look great. In past experience with purchasing 3D printed items "what you see isnt always what you get" but seeing your finished product in my opinion is an exception.

@Skullforge Any chance for a squad of Imperial Navy Troopers? Something to break up the monotony of white armor troops. (I know we can paint troops any color we want) They would look good running with "The Cunning Admiral".

I love your downed pilot and trooper objectives as well as your scientist. Would you consider the informant or spy Garindan from Episode 4? A spy would make a cool objective as well.

@Skullforge Do you think there's any chance you might do an alternative Imperial Officer that is closer to the art on the Imperial Specialists pack? I love that art but the mini falls woefully short.

If not, there's always Konstantin's "Imperial Captain" sculpts.

It's not 3d printed, it's hand sculpted and resin cast. Long delivery times have been reported as the guy is operating from Russia.

I haven't received my first order yet though there's a video review of his (Ep III) Sidious and (Ep IV) Kenobi on YouTube, and plenty of images and rotation clips on his Facebook and Instagram.

That's some super cool stuff. I was specifically looking for a female Imperial officer but maybe some of the other stuff would be fine to paint up.
