Or what about a Grey jedi hero with two builds, one leading to the Dark side and another one that would lead to the Light side.   Or you could mix up xp cards to earn powers from both sides.  Maybe xp cards from the same side would synergize slightly better to encourage sticking with one side.

Oh, that is so cool! This need to be a feature in a future IA2 Clone Wars era game! The struggle between Light and Dark, tying story points and ally Choices and character builds together, would be really nifty, I think :)

Maybe a force user that starts with a Lightsaber, but all their abilities work best with a lightsaber (incentive to keep it all/most of the campaign)

I really like this idea. Having a character who becomes more proficent with a lightsabre as they gain more experience through the campaign would make sense. Maybe if the cards had an effect for all melee weapons then an additional bonus for lightsabres in the bottom half of the card. The problem would be how to prevent the ancient lightsabre from becoming more powerful than it already is. I guess they could make the cards specific to the starting weapon.

I think this is a great idea as well for another force sensitive hero as well. It would not be unlike what Ezra goes through in Rebels.

I Like this idea.

You can split the build so that each xp level has a light and a dark version.

Maybe make the Light version a little support/defensive oriented (take care to not step on Diala's toes)

Make the Dark version a little aggressive/direct damage with force choke/lightning etc (but with more strain/damage costs?).

A player can go light or dark or a mix, depending on what they want to do.

Alternatively you could even have kyber crystals as both of the 2 or 3xp cards maybe? A red on one side and a blue on the other, each attachable only to a lightsaber and beneficial to that side's powers?

Ooh - had an idea. The hero could start with, say, only one green dice for Insight. Then the 1 XP cards (in addition to whatever other abilities they provide) add a red dice to their Insight pool, the 2 XP cards add a blue dice, 3 XP green, 4 XP yellow. So their Insight improves through the campaign, which would be a pretty unique mechanic... and they're choosing light versus dark powers, too.

The only concern I have here is: if you can be a Jedi with a Lightsaber who has to choose between the Light and the Dark side of the Force and improves in Insight as the campaign goes on... why would anybody ever want to be anything else? Isn't this hero just inherently better and more Star Wars than all the other heroes?

(TBF I thought this a bit when Davith appeared. Sure, you can be Diala, and fight using a plastic staff for most of the campaign, and maybe get your Lightsaber later if you happen to draw your hero mission as a side mission and win it to get the reward, which is difficult but fun and our Diala player loved doing that in the first campaign... or you can be Davith and just get a Lightsaber. Pretty harsh).

Sounds like you're just hungry for more thematic, more fun heroes.  I'm with you on that.

Regarding the lightsaber- my heroes have gotten to the point where they often choose other more effective weapons over sabers, anyway. But just for groups that enjoy that theme, maybe we should get another saber or two for the item deck.  Double bladed, red, or crossguard, maybe?

I think a gray jedi's abilities could be based on how much strain he has suffered, as it pushes him towards the dark side. Maybe he should have abilities that let him recover strain and deal a lot of damage but punish him either by suffering damage, conditions or becoming untargeteble for friendly effects, like ko-tun tokens.

You could get really wild with it, too.

Maybe instead of a regular Red side mission card, the Grey Jedi could have what effectively serves as something similar to a Threat mission. It becomes available with two other side missions, and as long as it's unplayed the Imperial player gets the reward "Doubt", which they can deplete to choose one die of the Jedi's to reroll.

Once the mission is played, the Jedi loses "Doubt" but gains either "Jedi Conviction" or "Disillusionment", both more permanent boons or banes.

Ancient Lightsaber Item card in Obi-Wan figure pack sort of mitigated this, didn't it?  Especially if you're playing with more than one expansion and follow the Jabba's Realm draw half the deck rule.

It sort of did, Diala's very likely to get a lightsaber now, be it her master's or one from a shop. But that's still not till level III items are available, Davith gets his right from the start IIRC.

How about starting with green yellow as the insight pool with the yellow die becoming blue when the hero is injured. A 3xp card that swaps the green for a red die. A 4xp card that adds a green die to the pool and a 2xp card that gives a cleave 2 surge while using the lightsaber. The lightsaber  starts with a 1 damage surge and a 3 pierce surge. That way you would have reliable upgrades close to when you get access to a new tier of equipment, but at the cost of having fewer force powers learned.

Great idea, but it would indeed be better than any other hero.

I think it could be two heroes. A Jedi with the lightsaber skills and a Trandoshan? hunter who gains a resource based on the enemies he defeats and can unlock things like combat visors or companions, that improve his attributes. Then one character wouldn't be that much more interesting than the others.

And a card can't have a Force ability, a lightsaber ability, an insight ability and quotes from the hero (which are great unless the hero is a wookie).

I've been reading the comics a lot lately, and it got me thinking- since we already have some comic material (BT and Triple Zero) and since I'd say we're pretty set as far as Rebels go, what if the next wave is would be comic related?

I'm not sure a boxed wave would make a ton of sense, unless the theme dipped a bit outside of strictly comics, because I personally can't think of comic-specific units that would be iconic enough to justift (Shu-Torun militia?)

But as far as packs go, there's a ton of potential.  Just a few I'd like to see:

Rebels-

Sana Starros

Bendic Two-Tubes (not strictly comics, but still...)

Merc-

Aphra (with BT/000 merc skirmish variant)

Krrsantan (maybe in pack with Aphra?)

Queen of Ktath'atn

Trios

Imperial-

All of Task Force 99 (spread across three packs, maybe?)

Cylo and Company ( again, spread across three packs?)

ex.- (Astarte siblings) (Karbin and Voidgazer) (Cylo)

Tolvan

Any other thoughts on what might fit for that type of wave?

Next hoping Endor Box Set to finish the trilogy. Then Thrawn campaign that is set on alternative timeline of original Thrawn Trilogy. Or if that's out of scope, then an unique Thrawn digital campaign.

No one guessed HotE right?  I forget.  No one guessed Lothal either right?

I bet it will be Endor or something totally unexpected and weird.  Or, more silence and no articles and dusty, dark, echoey halls...  "Hello?  Is anyone down there??"  "...down there...  down there..."

I reckon (like I said before) that post-worlds we just vote for one new updated card to mix it up a bit...  I reckon Dengar...  he need's a bit of love... under all those bandages is a broken and lonely man who just got caught up in the wrong crowd...

A few people thought Rebels content would be possible

Maybe with the new Cassian Andor series that will be coming out, another opportunity to have a Rogue One themed box with Scarif / Jehda tiles. Jyn, Krennic, Cassian with some other rebel characters. Disney loves cross promotional opportunities, so why not?

That would be awesome!  Sort of hope the tiles would be skewed Scarif since we have desert tiles in Core, Twin Shadows, Jabba's Realm and Tyrants of Lothal.  Like the latter, maybe all you need for Jehda would be a few iconic landmarks (e.g. collapsed Jedi statue).

I think it's definitely possible to say no one guess HotE.  That one came out of nowhere.

Some people guessed Lothal.  I kinda doubted it, though I did predict getting the remaining Rebels in packs the way they were released, only I assumed it would just be in a figure wave without a box.  I think given Hera and Chopper being released, most people assumed it was just a matter of time for the rest, especially after HotE doubled down on Rebels content.

We're kind of in an interesting position now, in that we don't really have that many "groups" that we currently started and need to finish, like the Spectres.  I guess there's always the Endor box, and maybe we could end up with more comic stuff since we have the droids.  Oh, and someone said something about a certain bounty hunter duo, too.

But otherwise, consider that Hera and Chop were announced in January 2017, and were assuredly in development long before that. Or, to put it another way, IA's foray into Rebels started just weeks after Rogue One hit theaters.  Now that we're caught up, I wouldn't be too surprised to see something Rogue One related next for IA, since this is kind of our first chance for something now that Rebels is probably done.

4LOM & Zuckuss 4evar! ;-)

Since we're hopinf for more R1 content now, how about Ponda Baba and Dr. Evazan?  And not only because R1 (and am hoping they'll show up in the Cassian Andor series), but because I'd love to see FFG make available the "Scum & Villainy" patronizing the Mos Eisley Cantina in ANH.  I visualize The Alliance Smuggler as being the guy Obi-Wan talked to at the bar who referred him to Chewie and Han.  But it would be fun to get a bunch more characters, assuming their names and backstories are canon or could be re-canonized (c.f. Thrawn) and they could be made into interesting units to play with unique and distinct abilities and play styles from what already exists.

And even though Rebels is "done" there's still some good possibilities from there: Cham Syndulla with Numa and Gobi (esp. if riding blurrgs), Cikatro Vizago (also in part because there's another Devaronian in the Mos Eisley Cantina). Thrawn's assassin Rukh, agent Kallus (for whom there could be a green side mission to turn him to the Rebels), and the other Inquisitors.

Considering order 66, and the Jedi purges by Vader thereafter, I think Diala (Traditional Jedi) and Davith(leaning towards a Gray Jedi) are all we need as Jedi representatives.

More alien species with interesting abilities such as: Chagrian, Geonosian, Zabrak, Quarren, Dug, Kubaz, Dowutin, Delphidian, or more Robotic Heroes are in order!
