corwin666 15 Posted August 21, 2018 I had the leader of our imperial assault tournament play opportunistic as such. It is greedo's activation. He attacks successfully against Vader, plays opportunistic BUT tells me that his bantha (not his activation GREEDO'S) can take the 3 movement points. No way right? a1bert 4,115 Posted August 21, 2018 (edited) Yes way, as long as he played Opportunistic on the Bantha (which is a mercenary figure, so Opportunistic can be played on it), the Bantha gains the movement points (and must spend them immediately because they are received out of its activation). When you read Opportunistic, it doesn't include "during your activation", so it can be played on any friendly mercenary figure. corwin666 15 Posted August 21, 2018 Thanks. I lost a real close game this way. But when you say play it on him you mean bantha can be the target of opportunistic even though it is Greedo's activation?

Yes. There is no inherit restriction to play cards on the figure that is activating. If a card can only be played on a figure that is activating, its text has "during your activation", or action cost, or similar. Many Command cards have a restriction box listed above the ability. When playing a Command card that lists a trait, figure name, and/or affiliation icon, it must be played on a single friendly figure that matches all of the restrictions listed. (IIRC, Opportunistic was used for good effect on the finale/semifinales of the previous Worlds.) Edited August 21, 2018 by a1bert
corwin666 15 Posted August 21, 2018 I really appreciate the knowledge! It's been burning me up cuz it was the difference between a win or the loss I suffered. Good play!
a1bert 4,115 Posted August 21, 2018 Coming up with all the possible uses of abilities (including command cards) is a skill, and coming up with the best way to use them during a heated game approaches art. 1 Tvboy reacted to this
hypnosis11 39 Posted August 21, 2018 Opportunistic doesn't even have to be your own activation, if an opponent uses Onar's Rush to deal a damage to himself, you could play Opportunistic and move away, OR ANY activation, if your opponent is playing Black Market and takes damage from the strain to activate the ability during the end of round you could play it and move a figure, which is especially juicy with the Bantha. 2 a1bert and corwin666 reacted to this

Black market opportunistic. Wow. Mind blown, I love it.
Tvboy 3,529 Posted August 27, 2018 You can use Opportunistic to dodge Greedo’s attack after you hit him with Slow on the Draw.
