Poll - Rate 2.0 Rebel Ships from 1-5 stars

Everyone seems to have enjoyed chipping in on the Imperial ships poll, so here's the Rebel poll.

I've learned from the Imperial poll (where I didn't separate out Vader from the other TIE Advanceds) so this time I've done that for a couple of Rebel pilots.

Meh, honestly, Rebels aren't that interesting for me right now.  Drop in useful EPTs for passive mods have been hurting a lot of their named pilots in my games basically just making them more substantial cost investments that do what generics do, E-Wings and Fenn Rau are pretty overcosted, A-Wings are missing a good high I ace.  The only things that have been universally good are Y-Wings and Z-95's with X-Wings and B-Wings being very solid.

Probably the same thing that's up with Fenn Rau, a 52pt support ship getting anything but a 1.  He's about 6-7pts overcosted.

Yeah, people are voting based on first edition. Fenn's strength is that he's dirt cheap, even compared to other Sheate pilots, in second edition AP-5 is still a fantastic support piece, even better with a Talent slot, Fenn costing 22 points more makes him impossible to justify on the table.

Agree with @Admiral Deathrain, it seems a lot harder to rate these compared to the Imperials. I think the z95 should be rated much higher though, and I can't understand Fenn's rating. Maybe a holdover from 1st edition, but at his current cost he just seems too expensive. I rated the Y-Wing higher too. I think it has decent versatility and pretty good durability for its cost now.

With so many fewer ways to get around Fenn and mod your dice anyway I'm not suprised his lockdown effect is being valued relatively highly.  He's expensive but he's also been indirectly buffed vs 1st Ed.

Bleh, yeah this one was rough. Played lots of rebs with group, but they're not for me given how dicey they are 

The only 5-stars for me are the X and Moldy Crow, the later of which especially is just a ****** all-star with all the focus it can bank. The X has mother loving Biggs (still as potent as ever), thane, wedge, Luke etc

The poor ARC and K have been gravely mistreated and I fear all the large ships are overpriced

I also think AirenCracken will be incredibly strong...but otherwise I hate Z's 

 

 

And I know people give TIE Aggressors **** (they're not bad, guys, esp with reduced defenses for aces), but imo having having Barrage rockets makes them FAR superior to Ys which really struggle to make their front arc matter

Meh, as soon as I realized a Red Squad Vet with Fearlessness was 2pts less and did basically the same thing for the same Initiative I stopped caring a lot about Biggs as a pilot.

Because crits are basicaly as common as hits? Biggs will always do something, Selfless only on a fraction of attacks.

There only needs to be 1 crit in the roll for the Red Squad Vet to do exactly the same thing.

 

Also, 2pts cheaper, not unique and frequently the crits are what you need to pawn off.

You're depending on rng then, eh? 

Not to mention taking crits isn't great on hull. Biggs without shields can take hits while your shielded ship takes the crit

Selfless is there to augment Biggs, not replace him because it absolutely can't

Yeah, but crits are not anywhere near as common as in 1.0 with no more guidance chips. Against 2 dice ships, the red vet will only do Biggs work 2/8 times, which is very relevant since TIE swarms are a force, against the most common type of ship, 3 dice, only 3/8 times etc. Really the red vet is never even half as good as Biggs, only against proton torps is it comparable and there aren't many lists that will use those.

Or just Luke with 3 selfless Red Squad Vets. That's list is actually quite dumb because of how much damage sharing goes on.

It would be a nice idea to do this poll again in about 2 months from release to see how ppl have changed their mind about some ships.

Nah, the community will be better off without metawing.

Too many people misunderstood and misinterpreted the results, only to perpetuate echo chambers.

And the underlying data had such a small sample for majority of squads that the results were completely unsound, even if interpreted correctly.

Excellent: None

Good: X-wings, Z's, Dutch Vander, U-Wing?, HWK w/ Moldy Crow, Sabine Attack Shuttle

I really want to make Z swarms work for me, but that 4 HP behind 2 AGI with no evade. Airen definitely seems good enough for a few lists. 

U-Wing is my controversial choice I guess. It seems like they really wanted it to be good. Not a bad price point and some nice pilot abilities, only some of which actually require an action out of the u-wing. Plus the new pivot wing. Maybe it's just me clinging to the old 360 degree arcs, but it's lack of a rear or bow tie arcs seems like a positive thing to me at this point. Doesn't have to pay for it in points and I haven't had much luck getting value from them personally. 

Maybe I am just overreacting and hoping too much that it won't be useless again.  Honestly haven't played with it in 2.0 yet, and could see the medium base being tricky at first. It is a bigger target for those bullseyes as well. 

Really looking forward to the Scum poll. Decided that I needed their conversion kit after all.

Clarification, plus I guess AP-5 sounds OK. Haven't gotten to use it much and honestly hadn't looked much outside of Fenn and Ezra on the bug.
