Well thanks! I worked on this, and my contributions were featured in the stuff beneath the "Heroes on Both Sides" header (which is probably not the section you're talking about, but I'm gonna take the compliment anyway!)

This book was so great to work on. Before I got hired as a freelancer for FFG, I was doing fan RPG content for D20, most notably the 500+ page Clone Wars fan sourcebook. So being able to revisit an era I love so much was really special for me. So glad this finally got announced!

Ahhhh the old Fandom Comics sourcebook days.  BTW that was a Helluva book that got a lot of use at my table, Keith!

I'm wondering what the Jedi careers are going to look like. Not a bad idea but I suspect there will be some clawing and knashing of teeth over them not being "right."

Mostly a lot of conference calls and traveling for business

NPCs tend to diverge greatly from PCs in the way they turn out in these games. NPCs tend to have greatly increased Characteristics overall compared to PCs, but far fewer talents and, as you've noticed, WT.

I recall a PC having the wounds and soak of a rancor due to upgrade choices and a suit of power armor. I had to remind myself this was 2 years into a campaign with 1000+ xp. The stats for the NPCs in the article are probably 500xp or so, very strong still compared to beginner characters and low-xp characters.

DAMNIT! While I loves me some clone wars, that era is pretty well fleshed out. Meanwhile the time between Jedi and the new movies badly needs some love and details (yeah, I blame JJ and his shittly conceived world building for all of that). Ah well. Off to preorder or whatever.

But darn. My money was on a sequel-era sourcebook first. Guess I'm down a pile of credits...

No way do I expect a sequel-era sourcebook until Episode IX is out.

I'm curious just how much it will truly explore the "Heroes on Both Sides" idea, as everythig I've seen for Clone Wars is pretty much a clear Jedi & Republic Good/Separatists Bad divide. It's also somewhat telling that while Clones get a species and specialized careers, nothing is mentioned of either of those for Separatist droids. Jedi also get a Career, but I don't expect a Sith Career in this time period as there are already three of them active. Oh well, at least the Seps get Geonosians.?

Just so you know, I  loved that stuff so I'm sure I'll love this too. Incidentally, I had held out hope for some Saga-style Rebels cartoon also. Nice to see you're getting paid for it now. ?

ARC Troopers are the only standout I can think of being missing which could be in a second/late-stage Clone wars book as people have mentioned. Be interesting to see how they structure it and what the campaign advice is like - whether they have some sort of squad system for clones for example.

ARC troopers are there from the start of the war. They don't need a new era book for that, simply specialize under Clone Commander.

There is some rumours that Episode IX will  be split into two movies so we might not see a sequel era book until  2021. Unless FFG is working on an era book just covering Force Awakens and Last Jedi.

Rumor only. The actual chances of that happening, IMO, are non existent. It would completely break from the tradition established for the SW saga.

Also wondering if there will be reprints/consolidation of existing CW materials or if we'll still need to dig through all the other books...

That's what I want to see most when it comes to this book, most if not all Clone Wars Vehicles and droids and all consolidated in one place. They've got Clone Wars Era stuff in the books already but not really that much and they're all spread out.

That guy Ahsoka had the hots for was presented as a "good" separatist... until he defected.

The droid species is already covered, why would seppie droids be different?

Same reason that Clones are now distinct from Humans: a tighter focus. It wouldn't be hard to have several "subspecies" of Sep Battle Droids and a Career specifically for them.

I'll wait and see. While my own pass at a "Clone" species was built with that focus in mind, I also know a lot of people just used human. Since Mando and Correlian both proved to be rather simple mods over complete rebuilds, while I'm hopeful we'll see a "species" built for a Soldiery Career, I'm expecting more of a human with a Soldiery special ability.

Droids seem even less so since the current option is so flexible.

Two specialisations in each career feels light. Get the feeling the "late clone wars" era book will add more.

Hopefully, if such a book exists, it will have a spec for a cyborg death machine like Grievous (and the Kaleesh species too!). Yeah I know there's Cyber Tech, but that's more for someone that tinkers with enhancements rather than being a borged out freak.
