Sentry71 26 Posted August 6, 2018 For both Imperial and Rebel armies, I have 3 of the standard corps (Rebel Troopers, Stormtroopers) and 2 other corps (Fleet Troopers, Snowtroopers). I am looking to expand both armies to 6 corps units, but I don't know if it makes more sense to do one specific unit over the other. For Rebels, is there enough of an advantage using the Fleet Troopers over standard Rebel Troopers? Z6 vs scattergun seems to indicate 'no'. For Imperial, does the same apply for Snowtroopers over Stormtroopers? Ready and flame vs Precise and DLT... I haven't experience a decided advantage in this case. I would love to hear thoughts on this. Thanks!
arnoldrew 1,712 Posted August 6, 2018 I haven't tried Fleet Troopers since I don't own any and I've only had Snowtroopers used against me, but it seems you'd only want 1-2 of them and more of the "regular" troopers.
toffolone 93 Posted August 6, 2018 definitely go with as many fleet troopers as you can. I would suggest to completly forfeit the regular rebel troopers . same goes for storm vs snow: go for 6x snow troopers. with either flamethrower and impact grenade or MPL Ion and councussion. Brightguy 130 Posted August 6, 2018 I still like DLTs and Z-6s, but it is interesting. With all the new releases announced being infantry it makes the high output short range stuff even more appealing in a relative way. I was hoping that some vehicles might have helped bring Ion, or even Impact back, but it's not happening so far.

I don't play rebels, but I know that for Empire I don't recommend that. In my opinion the DLT gives too much versatility to give up completely. I currently only have 5 units of stormies and 1 unit snowies, but I'll probably pick up another to run 4 DLTs and 2 snowflamers. As for fleet troopers, it seems like bad tactics to basically give up on beyond range 2. It just severely limits your options and makes your army very one dimensional. Ultimately, snowies and fleet troopers are sidegrades, not upgrades. Play around with them and see what combo fits your playstyle. 1 Sentry71 reacted to this
The captn 199 Posted August 15, 2018 I like the 4/2 setup in my armies. Between a few buddies or my son i can run 4 fleets or 7 snows. Doubt id ever give up the range 3 or 4 if can prevent it. 1 Qwrety77 reacted to this

The Meta may be switching over towards those snowies and fleets as more and more of these dang troop units come out! More tanks please FFG!!
A Curious Punnisher Player 21 Posted August 21, 2018 I'd suggest 2:4 composition, 2 being the new corps. They're both good at close range, and anti-trooper, so I'd use them to secure objectives or deny an area an area from the enemy. Neither are great against vehicles, though, while the Starter Troopers are decent against them, so consider that. At this point, though, holding objectives will help you more than killing everyone else. 1 Sentry71 reacted to this
