2E: Tie Aces

Six TIEs flying in pairs?

Typically you do 3x3, sometimes 4x2 if you wanna be tricky and do the first turn with different speeds 2,3,4,5 and 3,4 for the back. That helps if they’re jousting you at an angle. If they’re probably going to be at the other side of the board you do a box of 2x2 with 2 Ties and opposite sides at an angle to bank in after the other ties, so when you turn into the board eventually you got two rows. Example Parker vs Heaver 2013 Final.

My first attempt is going to be six TIEs:

Howlrunner w/Crack Shot

Versio w/Crack Shot

Hask w/Crack Shot

Mithel w/Crack Shot

Black Squadron w/Crack Shot

Black Squadron w/Crack Shot

Crack Shot isn't going to build nearly as good in 2.0... but it's what I know. :D

This has also proven to be fun over the first few games.

Just as an observation - consider swapping "Mauler" Mithel for "Scourge" Skutu. Same price, intiative, whatever, but Skutu's extra attack die triggers on a bullseye shot, rather than range 1. It makes him work better with stuff like Crack Shot and Predator, because you know both abilities will always be triggering at the same time.

So works much better from Copying and Pasting from the app (iOS). Random order but acceptable

I'm going to try this list:

Howlrunner (40)

Iden Versio (40)

Gideon Hask (30)

Darth Vader (90)   Fire Control System, Cluster Missiles and Supernatural Reflexes

Fly the three TIEs in a "V" formation (tight) and allow Darth Vader to flank the opponent; making the opponent choose either to chase Vader or deal with the full brunt of all 4 at the same time. Thoughts?? (Is there a better flying strategy for this list?)

Just played a game versus Whisper and 6 Academy's.

In the lead for the entirety of the game. Did get a little flustered and made some wrong decisions when TTS screwed up my dials and had to figure out how to fix it on the fly.

I'll take a look at that. I'm finding that Crack Shot isn't nearly as good in 2.0 for swarms, so six named TIEs might also be just as effective.

Yeah, Crack isn't great anymore. Its fine, but the named ties get more value than a Black with Crack.

Vader & Black Squadron might be nice, too.

  • Darth Vader
    • Supernatural Reflexes
    • Fire Control System
    • Proton Rockets
    • Afterburners
  • Mauler Mithel
    • Outmaneuver
  • Valen Rudor
    • Squad Leader
  • Wampa

I've been running this basic miniswarm alongside many "aces", trying to figure out the best one.  Whisper wasn't quite right, either was Duchess with Fifth brother (but she was fun!).  Here's my Fel variant with 5 points of bid (I know its not enough, I should probably just put talents on the TIEs).  Is there a 59 point ace-y ship that would fit better?

TIE/in Interceptor - Soontir Fel - 54
    •Soontir Fel - Ace of Legend (52)
        Predator (2)

TIE/ln Fighter - Seyn Marana - 31
    •Seyn Marana - Inferno Four (30)
        Marksmanship (1)

TIE/ln Fighter - “Howlrunner” - 40
    •“Howlrunner” - Obsidian Leader (40)

TIE/ln Fighter - Iden Versio - 40
    •Iden Versio - Inferno Leader (40)

TIE/ln Fighter - Gideon Hask - 30
    •Gideon Hask - Inferno Two (30)

Total: 195/200

Maybe a phantom? Put Admiral Sloane in the backseat and you've got a great swarm force multiplier in a decent dogfighter...or just pack Whisper with Juke for 56 points.

What about Fel don't you like? Fel & Duchess are pretty much the Empire's best 'manouvrability' aces.

I normally like Fel with Palp backup and Stealth/predator, or even Afterburners.  He's a lot squishier without that backup and I can be unexpectedly more aggressive with him.  Whisper with Juke is alright too.  Duchess with Fifth Brother was okay, but for 56 points I'd still rather have Fel with Predator.  I'll have to try Admiral Sloan, thanks!

Its an even 200 Points, no upgrades. Thoughts?

How is the strategy against Boba Fett with his Firespray?

I literally just faced a Boba 2 minutes ago on TTS, killed Boba in 3 rounds of fire. But Adv Sensor Guri just solo’d what Boba left for her. Boba is a matchup where Seyn NEEDS to trigger. Really need that damage spike. Guri on the other hand. I got no answers for that. My strategy was trap boba and get the points.
