Deadshane 710 Posted August 1, 2018 I know the established way for Rebs to use Intensify Firepower is supposed to be with Hammerheads...i guess, but goofing around on my builder I came up with this, and I think its interesting. Garm, Nebulon spam, Pelta....stuff noone uses. Garm Gunz (397/400) ================== Modified Pelta-class Assault Ship (56 + 37) + Garm Bel Iblis (25) + General Draven (3) + Intensify Firepower! (6) + Flechette Torpedoes (3) Nebulon-B Support Refit (51 + 17) + Skilled First Officer (1) + Spinal Armament (9) + Salvation (7) Nebulon-B Support Refit (51 + 10) + Skilled First Officer (1) + Spinal Armament (9) Nebulon-B Support Refit (51 + 10) + Skilled First Officer (1) + Spinal Armament (9) Nebulon-B Support Refit (51 + 10) + Skilled First Officer (1) + Spinal Armament (9) GR-75 Medium Transports (18 + 2) + Comms Net (2) Shara Bey (17) Tycho Celchu (16) Most Wanted Fleet Ambush Solar Corona So, if you use HH's instead of Nebulons, you get 5 (with turbolaser upgrade) or 6 (without). Considering Side arcs, total Red dice thrown, the advantage HH's have is negligible at best. Nebulons are efficient Red dice carriers. On the other hand, the Nebulons have a LARGE advantage in the resiliency department with the two braces. Much more sturdy ship. Also, in a jousting setup, surviving Nebulons are more potent after an overrun while moving away. 3 dice out the rear, 4 with CF. Garm is for controlling the initial engagement. Deploy speed 1. If the opposing ships jump at speed 3/4, you can pump your speed up to 3 to maybe get a turn 2 shot off at range. First officers help with that sure, but are effective later game anyway. So, with concentrate firepower, each Neb can throw 5 dice out the front, or 6 in two salvos if you get the side arc. Thats some ranged damage. Most Wanted...7? Fighter defence...Pelta and interceptors. Thoughts?
TallGiraffe 3,326 Posted August 1, 2018 @Deadshane My friend shall I introduce you, for the same price as a blank Nebulon Support Refit Hammerhead Scout Corvette (41) • Disposable Capacitors (3) • Slaved Turrets (6) • Task Force Organa (1) = 51 Points Capable of slinging a whopping 5 dice at long range with some rerolls thrown in with the option of 3 red dice and 2 blue or 4 red dice and 1 blue if you are in the gambling mood. I just saved you 30 points off of the 3 non salvation Nebs. No need to thank me good sir. Also I want nebs to work, but those side arcs ugh. Also Projection experts on a Pelta ain't a bad idea just saying. 1 The Jabbawookie reacted to this
Thrindal 1,146 Posted August 1, 2018 (edited) If your going to use Garm why not Ahsoka to change some of those tokens on the fly to things that you need more. While your at it how about the Pheonix Home title on the Pelta? Sure Garm can't give it tokens but the extra room lets you bank a third token first turn. Plus the Comms Net GR-75 has somewhere to put tokens as well. All I am saying is if you are going to play the Token game why not maximize it? I didn't suggest Hondo because that might be overkill but hey more tokens! (Tokens can be huge, I love Tarkin after all. I just want to get the most out of them if I am building a fleet around them). You will never be without a token for IF! Edited August 1, 2018 by Thrindal 1 sasska reacted to this
sasska 30 Posted August 1, 2018 (edited) Agree, I would drop flechette and/or Draven. Don't think they add too much value. Draven is only useful against Sloane aces in my opinion. But this is meta dependent. If you face a lot Sloane lists you should keep him on board maybe. One source of flak usually does not enough. But it's up to you. But really like the idea of Garm and nebulons. Good luck! Edited August 1, 2018 by sasska
