Corran’s Bullseye Arc is challenging to land

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had much luck with Corran yet in 2e? I keep finding that it’s hard to reliably land his double-tap on anything you’re actually trying to finish off. You almost always need that focus or evade to survive at close range, so you almost never have a boost or barrel roll to adjust your final arc. So far I’ve had better luck running him as a longe-range torpedo caddy with an extra attack for that first long-range attack.

R2-D2 is still very good on him, but I’m not sure he’s actually worth the points over R3.

I'm still pretty convinced that the ships and upgrades that rely on the bullseye arc, outside of range 0 stuff, are only going to be useful against large-based ships. Small ships just don't have the surface area to target them reliably, especially once boosting and barrel rolls come into the equation.

Yea this is true. He still eats big ships for lunch, especially if he has a blocker.

Spam the bullseye arc abilities is your best shot. Corran and a couple hlc carriers, etc. Make those bullseye arcs cross paths like a laser security system protecting the hope diamond. One will hit the target and do damage.

In 1.0, getting just a single kimo to hit inquisitor in bullseye was **** near impossible. But running 4 cartels, one will line up and then inqy cant use tokens on that shot.

Advanced Sensors and R4 Astromech. Try Daredevil if your still having trouble. Done.

I'm surprised to see the complaints about bullseye on a ship with good repositioning options and linked actions.

I've been running Ten Numb with Advanced Sensors, Elusive, and HLC and MAN! He gets the bullseye almost every turn (at least against swarms and large ships), he's always doing reds to recharge Elusive, and he never doesn't get his barrel roll + mod. He's a beast, much better than Braylen. Either his price is going up or Braylen's is going down next cycle.

Edit: But then, I was an avid Keyan player in 1e (actually happy to see him replaced with a movie pilot :p) so I've had a lot of practice with his reds.

One issue for the E-Wing is that the Target Lock is limited to being outside of range 1, which reduces the value of those linked actions a bit. If you could do a linked boost or BR into a focus, it would be a much more forgiving ship.

Corran can’t get that mod+ reposition. That’s his core challenge. You have to pick one because only his lock is linked and he can’t lock at range 1.

The problem is his price tag forces him to be cagey. Unlike efficiency fighters that can spam crack or HLC without worrying too much about being in arc (or first edition Kimos with the likes of painbot), Corran has to dodge AND get the bullseye, all without the autothrusters of interceptors or the vectored thrusters of A-Wings.

I assume Nathan Eide has already mastered it, though.

And if he repositions to get that arc, then he's likely giving up his defensive mods. He's relying on naked green dice to keep him alive.

Does he need a focus battery to feed him? With FCS and something coordinating or donating a Focus, he could get more regular mods.

wow its almost like your decisions will carry weight in second edition, as opposed to just getting everything you need every single turn

Sure. But when that chassis is 74 points before upgrades, the lack of a defensive mod is a big thing. I have a hard time seeing Corran as being worth an 11 point premium over the Rogue Squadron Escort. For that cost, you could have Luke Skywalker with Instinctive Aim and Proton Torpedoes, who will have better sustain against focused fire and higher burst damage at the same PS. while saving you a point.

This is exactly what I’ve been doing. Benthic U-wing. But tbh it’s still not enough. I have ended so many games without even using his ability. I figured I would be using R2 every other turn, but that was naive.
