Greebwahn 924 Posted July 28, 2018 What's the game plan here?

Leia helps with all the red on the B-Wing's dial (plus Saw's stop move). Elusive will help Saw a little bit on defense, and when Leia is regaining charges, the Advanced Sensors help the B-Wings with actions. Basically, I've always liked flying B-Wings and the U-Wing looks like one of the best support ships for the Rebels, so that's what I started with. theBitterFig 8,373 Posted July 28, 2018 Hrm. I feel like for Rebels and a Proton Torpedo build, I kind of want the cheaper Y-Wing over the B-Wing. Depending on the build, you can probably get 3x Y-Wings, compared to 2x B-Wings. I'd rather have a 3rd ship than a 3rd attack die. Y-Wings also have reload, and B-Wings don't. 3x Grey Squadron Bombers with Proton Torpedos (41 each) would fit along side the same list, if you were willing to cut only a single point from Saw. I'd probably drop Contraband Cybernetics. If you dropped also Elusive and Tactical Officer, you could fit on R3 Astromechs (up to 44 each) for double TLs, which would allow the Y-Wings to K-Turn into a follow-up shot, even if on a different ship, and Leia still can allow the moves to be white and they'll be focused. Also, the lower shields of a Y-Wing mean they'll be active for Saw's ability sooner. As to the B-Wing flip strategy, the B-Wing K-Turns or T-Rolls into Proton Torpedos don't seem too great either, because of their short distance. I'd be worried an enemy would wind up at range 1 after the move, and the whole plan just collapsed. I think there's a lot of room for B-Wings, but Proton Torpedo builds just... don't seem right to me? The cost of having a 3-red dice just makes torpedo-based strategies a little inefficient. Consider: Cassian (47) + 3x Advanced Sensor Blues (50 each) leaves... only 3 points for Cassian's upgrades, but that's a whole extra ship. Meanwhile, Cassian also helps with stress. 3x B-Wings throw 9 dice between them, compared to the 8 that two with Torpedoes. 1 Greebwahn reacted to this
Greebwahn 924 Posted July 28, 2018 I tend to agree that Ys would make better torp carriers. I'm inclined to think that Bs should only get torps if you have points to fill.
Greebwahn 924 Posted July 28, 2018 That being said, I think a U and named Bs could make great brawlers!

Yeah, I guess that does make sense for the Y-Wings to be a better torp platform than the B-Wings. I do only have two in my current collection. I'm likely not going to buy the new models of ships in Wave 1 right away. So I may fill that third Y-Wing gap with an X-Wing or z-95.
theBitterFig 8,373 Posted July 28, 2018 Well, (41 point Torpedo Grey Y) x 2 + (50 Advanced Sensors Blue B) + 58 point U-Wing would work, or cut back on the U-Wing for more upgrades. Or you could do YYBB with two HLC/AdvS B-Wings, and 2 Proton Torpedo Y-Wings. If Bullseye HLC doesn't suit you, getting droids on the Y-Wings would work. With the cost of generics in 2.0, there’s really just so many ways you can make adjustments. It kind of makes my head swim until there’s an official way to do a side-by-side comparison.
