Now that we have the point values for 2.0, I decided to dig up an old squad from the Imdar Alpha tourney I played in and convert it to 2.0.

I call it Superfriends or Sharing is Caring:

Dutch Vander (42) with Swarm Tactics (3), R4 Astromech (2), Ion Turret (6) and Veteran Turret Gunner (8) = 61

Garven Dries (47) with Swarm Tactics (3), R4 Astromech (2) and Servomotor S-Foil (0) = 52

Blue Squadron Escort (41) with R4 Astromech (2) and Servomotor S-Foil (0) = 43

Blue Squadron Escort (41) with R4 Astromech (2) and Servomotor S-Foil (0) = 43

Total = 199

Come at me

Captain Kagi (48) with Cienna Ree (10)

2x Saber Squadron Ace (40) with Outmaneuver (6)

Turr Phenrir (44) with Outmaneuver (6)

Total = 200

Holy crap! Whisper/Echo are 52/50pts now??

Whoohoo! Thats cheap enough to run a good solid 3ship list or even a miniswarm + a phantom. Echo shall live again!

I may have to see if I can find enough cheap TIE Phantoms to try 4x...

TIE interceptor. But it confirms that some quick build cards 'break the rules'.

I think that's fair.  Quick-build cards are fixed to a specific loadout, so you don't have to worry about potentially game-breaking combinations.  And if you're using the quick-build cards, you're NOT building off points, so rules about building off points need not apply.

Needless to say I still think meta will be Int 6 or bust. But yeah expect these points to be adjusted after worlds.

It may be, and I don't pay attention to the meta outside my local store enough to dispute that, but I have heard people mention that Initiative is much more fixed now.  Now you can't just take any pilot you like the ability of and give them the highest value, so limiting yourself to only I6 pilot abilities will be a bit more restrictive.

Yeah I mean I think they got this wrong. Because if you look at the art on the Scimitar Squadron Pilot, there's a torpedo or missile coming out of that hexagon. Did it just punch through the gunner? Or Maybe there's a gunner behind the pilot's seat? It just seems wrong to me.

The gunner ducks whenever the projectile gets launched, clearly.

But seriously, I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be an ordnance tube.  If it's been depicted as a window, then that's got to be a different configuration.

I count 5 Generic Gunners that Imps can use and 11 Generic Modifications. Are these too few?

Doesn't sound too bad to me, especially so early in the game's life.  Give it a few waves (or however they're releasing now) and that number will likely grow considerably.

Who's this Dalan Oberos guy who gets to pilot two ships -- a StarViper and a Kimogila?

None of our iconic heroes pilots two ships. I mean, who does he think he is, Sabine Wren?

Ezra gets to pilot 3.

I don't even like the Empire but I don't know why you would fly anything other than Interceptors and Phantoms.

Because there are other ships out there that fly differently?  I don't know enough about competitive play to say whether Interceptors and Phantoms will be the be all and end all of competitive Imperial lists, but even if it is, some of us just want to fly what we like.

I was just kind of curious, and decided to figure out how many of each ship you could put in a list.  I realize some of them may not be very good without mods, but I just wanted to see what sorts of swarms we have to play with.
* indicates a ship only has Unique pilots, which may sometimes be more limiting than points.

REBEL
6x A-Wing
3x ARC-170*
4x Attack Shuttle*
4x Auzituck Gunship
4x B-Wing
3x E-Wing
6x HWK-290
4x K-Wing
4x Sheathipede-class Shuttle*
4x TIE/ln*
4x U-Wing
2x VCX-100
4x X-Wing
6x Y-Wing
2x YT-1300
2x YT-2400
8x Z-95

IMPERIAL
5x Alpha-class Star Wing
4x Lambda-class Shuttle
5x TIE Advanced Prototype
4x TIE Advanced x1
5x TIE Interceptor
4x TIE Reaper
6x TIE Aggressor
5x TIE Punisher
2x TIE Defender
4x TIE Phantom
7x TIE Bomber
5x TIE Striker
8x TIE/ln
2x VT-49 Decimator

SCUM
2x Aggressor
4x Escape Craft*
4x Fang Fighter
3x Firespray-class Patrol Craft
4x G-1A
6x HWK-290
3x Jumpmaster 5000
5x Kihraxz Fighter
4x Kimogila
3x Lancer-class Pursuit Craft
6x M3-A Interceptor
7x Quadjumper
4x Scurrg
4x StarViper
6x Y-Wing
4x YT-1300
3x YV-666
8x Z-95 (would be 9x if the Nashtah Pup didn't explicitly require Hound's Tooth)

Also, the Empire gets 4 distinct Force User pilots, Rebels get 3 distinct Force User pilots (one of which, Ezra, gets 3 different ship options), and Scum get 1 Force User pilot.  All I can say is that I'm totally psyched for 2.0!

FFG heard my cries of pain! Scurrgs no longer have missile slots, and K-wings lose turret upgrades. A lot of the overloaded generalist chassis lost an upgrade type or two, which I think is really good. The least fun I had in X-wing was looking across the board at a ship with 10 different kinds of upgrade cards and trying to remember what they all did.

The only problem is that, the bomber has only ever been shown as having bombs.

There aren't even laser cannons depicted on the model - the original model at that.

In the computer games the TIE had guns and ordnance.

And even if there is a bombardier, giving him a tiny, forward-facing window doesn't make too much sense.  He'd be dropping the bombs based on his instruments, and he wouldn't even be dropping it forwards, anyway.  It simply doesn't make sense for it to be anything but a missile/torpedo port.
