chr335 658 Posted July 21, 2018 You could play it while it does have obvious weaknesses to bomber wings you have 48 hull for the enemy to kill which isn't an easy task. The two main things to watch out for are MSU swarm lists and Bombers but it should be fun
The Jabbawookie 5,613 Posted July 21, 2018 (edited) In that it is legal? Yes. In that it could place well? Probably not. A lack of dice control makes reds in particular dangerously unreliable. Versus a bomber list you may wish to rush for a tabling, but the VSD’s abysmal maneuverability and speed make it extremely difficult. Two Cymoons without Gunnery Team don’t hit significantly harder than one with it (not for the cost.) In short: if you expect things to go very wrong, you may get a decent result and be pleasantly surprised. If you expect a respectable performance, you will likely be disappointed. If you’re not playing for novelty/laughs, drop one or both VSDs for basic necessities and we can help from there. ? Admiral Calkins 1,470 Posted July 21, 2018 While it certainly looks intimidating to have four medium and large triangles across the table, I can see one of the Vics (and maybe even one of the ISDs) always out of the fight. And just like @chr335 and @The Jabbawookie noted, the list is susceptible to bomber swarms and has no dice control, respectively. I have been running Triple Cymoons, and looking at your list, you might want to give Triple Kuats a try. If it is a squad heavy build, you could try to rush the carriers for the tabling, and if not, and if you the objective favors you, just let your opponent come to you (like Contested Outpost). Probably not a competitive list either, but would be really fun (Triple ISDs always are). Could look something like this, but it was quickly designed and is not tested. And you can always replace Motti with JJ to increase maneuverability or swap out a Leading Shots for a Strategic Advisor. Infinite ways to build it, but this may be a start. Commander: Admiral Motti Assault: Station Assault Defense: Contested Outpost Navigation: Solar Corona ISD Kuat Refit (112) • Admiral Motti (24) • Electronic Countermeasures (7) • Leading Shots (4) • External Racks (3) • Avenger (5) = 155 Points ISD Kuat Refit (112) • Leading Shots (4) • External Racks (3) = 119 Points ISD Kuat Refit (112) • Electronic Countermeasures (7) • Leading Shots (4) • External Racks (3) = 126 Points Squadrons: = 0 Points Total Points: 400 1 The Jabbawookie reacted to this

It's honestly a personal preference. I just put ECMs because since Kuats want to brawl in close range, ships may be considered more of a threat than squadrons. Definitely could go with either though based on your local meta.

With ecms you can charge forward at speed 3, use you bulk to stop them escaping and happilly burn out your braces. You should smash them in the damage race. 1 Admiral Calkins reacted to this
ovinomanc3r 4,437 Posted July 26, 2018 No GT, no dice fixers, VSD-1 that cannot contribute to the cause... I don't see that working too well.
