If you personally own eight core sets and four of each expansion, and everyone's playing with cards that you've directly supplied, the entire team uses one pool. If each player builds their own deck at home and takes it to an event, each player has a separate weakness pool (and, thus, you could end up with four Mob Enforcers in play simultaneously). That... is possibly one of the dumbest rules I've ever heard :P
DarkFate 70 Posted June 21, 2018 Why so? That is pretty logical since you would want to avoid putting your cards into someone else's deck and then lose the card if you forgot about it. 1 rsdockery reacted to this
Raahk 184 Posted June 21, 2018 I forgot to mention that we play with my collection only, since nobody of my friends has the game themselves. If i understand correctly, according rsdockery i am supposed to weaknesses from both coresets. Though this contradicty SGPrometheus' statement of using only one. I get the feeling that it doesnt even matter since i am having a lot of fun with this game anyways ?
Khudzlin 734 Posted June 21, 2018 No one's going to storm your place to make sure you're using the correct rules, that's for sure. By the way, you should only use the basic weaknesses from 1 core set, no matter how many you have.

Yeah, I'm much more likely to burst in the door to make sure you're using coasters! 2 Raahk and Soakman reacted to this

My main issue with it is the "If I own many copies I should still build one pool for everyone." The baseline rule shouldn't depend on who owns what. You should try to work every investigator from an independent pool, or every investigator from a shared pool from the campaign. And if you have enough cards to build an independent pool for each investigator, and that's the expectation, then it shouldn't matter if four players own one set each or one player owns four. If accommodations have to be made for ownership that's fine, but they should be secondary to that. 1 Jobu reacted to this

I don't sweat it to much, I just use one pool for all players and call it a day.

Yeah, it's not the end of the world - I do independent pools and I'm not likely to change Just sort of an on-principle annoyance. Edit: To me, the rule is like a card that says "Fight: You get +1 Fight for this test. If you borrowed this card from a friend, +2 instead." That would undoubtedly strike everyone as very silly, this is pretty much the same. Edited June 21, 2018 by Buhallin
Duciris 1,347 Posted June 21, 2018 Oh, hey, @Raahk. What was the doubled-up weakness that started all of this? Was it Dunwich's Indebted? Because if so, HOLY CRAP is that guy hosed! 1 Raahk reacted to this

As already mentioned, by the letter of the rules you should take all the basic weaknesses from one core set and from one copy of each expansion and use this pool for all (two/three/four) investigators because all decks are built from a single collection. However, your "it doesn't even matter" comment is definitely the way to approach this - it's a co-op game so as long as you are all having fun it really doesn't matter very much! 2 mborda and Raahk reacted to this
