VAYASAN 850 Posted June 7, 2018 Looks good. Always love Fleet troopers ? Colours look good to me. Cant quite see the helmet but is it glossed/will it be glossed? IMO it finishes them off nicely. IMO the front of the gun should be a bit more 'shiny' silver? 1 wintermoonwolf reacted to this
syrath 1,316 Posted June 7, 2018 (edited) Still to be glossed In working through the rest of the two units and Leia, I have them associated and washed and painted to a better standard than this one, this is the quick prototype , not sure I'll use the "grey" on the rest of the helmets(edit and the boots)nd might just go with gloss on them to make them "shine" For reference the "black" on the helmet is vallejo game color heavy charcoal and I felt that on this figure at least the paint was a little thick so I've thinned down a bit more for the rest of them , this is my first time photographing my minis and I didn't r realise how thick I was painting until I blew up the photo, so I've thinned significantly more. I think a straight black and then gloss looks brilliant on the helmet without any actual hard work of shading/highlighting that might normally done if not using gloss. The dark edge is the heavy charcoal the highlight is a mid grey.

Yeah, pictures of minis are a mixed blessing. I love looking at them but it makes me agonize over stuff that no one will ever look at again. I don’t think you are unacceptably thick on the paint for this prototype but in my experience “as thin as you can make it and still get it to act like paint” is the best thickness to shoot for. That is so true and the picture is twice the size of the figure in real iife, I always imagined them as being smoother again it was only a prototype, it's just finished the fleet trooper leader , Leia and an ATRT , which I'll post when I get the pictures set up tomorrow. 1 BigBadAndy reacted to this
1st Due Apparatus 4 Posted June 20, 2018 Question for y’all who have already painted the fleet troopers. I built mine yesterday and am excited to paint them up. However one part of the model I dont know what to do with. On the backs of most of the model is a large rectangle slightly raised from their jackets. How have you guys painted that? Need to tips because I’m not even sure what it’s supposed to be.
Brightguy 130 Posted June 20, 2018 It appears to me to be an armor panel of some kind embedded in the vest. There doesn't seem to be much armor elsewhere. I guess that's where the save comes from.
