LCG?

Recommended Posts

It's not an LCG.  The final nail in that coffin for me was that these forums are listed in the subcategory of "Board and Card Games" rather than "Living Card Games."  I got excited about that for a split too.

FFG has enough LCGs already. I'm glad this is something else.

So what exactly is this Adventure Card game format then?  Would someone care to give a short explanation for those that have never seen the WH game?

The gist (as I remember it) is you are each playing a single character with 4 action choices.  You may acquire new weapons & armor, or you can upgrade your any of your 4 actions between missions with XP.  All of your cards are on the table.

Each character has a different ability tied to each of the 4 actions.  On your turn, you use 1 of your actions, exhausting it.  All of your actions remain exhausted until you preform the 1 that has your Prepare (unexhausted-all-actions) trigger.  Each class has that trigger on a different action.  Scout has it on explore, Mage has it on rest, Healer has it on Aid, and Warrior has it on Attack.

The combat is pretty slick, and uses dice to deal wounds / defend.  The Explore progresses you toward the end of the mission, but often summons monsters.

The product page for the game was removed, but you can read all of the announcement pages if you search for them.  Here is the page that contains the Learn to Play and Rules Reference.  https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2015/11/23/your-map-and-torch/
