They are the one thing Storm Troopers can hit.

But that squad is illegal, 6 troopers and no heavy weapon.

Must be the dang Army Builder Files are broke again.

Of course I suspect that old George cheats if you aren't watching him close enough.

I ran into 5 Fleet Troopers + Shootgun Trooper on tuesday. It was devastating. I will definitly put them further up on my target priority list.

5 fleet troopers miniatures or 5 units of fleet troopers? 5 units of them would be deadly on tables with a ton of terrain like a city or something.

Either way, Im excited to play with them and play against them in future battles. Just picked up my pre order today, and man am I excited to get them painted up! Loved how they looked in the online articles but they're even better in person.

That's 7, one's taking cover behind an other one on the left.

Two squads, counting the two guys down for the count at the back.

Vader didn't get the memo about DLTs, apparently -- he armed his squads only with E-11s! Luckily the Stormtroopers were able to mop up quickly after the Fleet Troopers panicked; by the time Vader got there with his 1-move there was only a Fleet Trooper squad leader left to Force Choke. I think that happened because the Rebel commander was camping an objective and her Troopers were out of command range.

Clearly more illegal play. Troopers do not provide cover to other troopers.

I used fleet troopers to great effect this weekend. Running a recover the supplies mission with some good LoS blocking buildings. We we're at a standoff for the center objective because he had flamethrower troops and Vader with saver throw nearby, and I had 3 Rebel troopers hiding behind cover. I secured the area by putting Leia and Fleet troopers at R2 from the objective with standby.

I used save our skins to get a free move out of cover so that when I activated, the troops could claim the supplies and start running. That forced Vader and the flame troopers to give chase. My opponent baited me with Vader triggering standby but I let him attack, because his next activation was his flametroops. He brought them around and took two attacks, one with shotgun fleet troopers with two aim tokens and one from Leia with aim. Didn't wipe him out but severely hampered his attack.

Really liking the combo play with fleet troopers so far and definitely worth the points to have IMO.

If two units with standby have a unit move near them...can the both interrupt? (Not really used standby much yet but just wanted to know)

I think the Rebels won that one 1-0, with R2 claiming the only objective.  No wonder Vader is so pissed.

Or Vader just forgot to take force reflexes and saber throw. No rogue one or empire strikes back here.

Your standby would have been broken by the sabre being thrown, unless i'm missing something?

It's in the RRG as "may" spend a standby token when triggered.

EDIT: I misunderstood and see now that you meant due to suppression. He threw the saber at a different unit. Probably a misplay but I had two standby units anyway, so the snowtroopers were definitely getting hit.

Just here to say add my voice to those who say the Fleet Troopers are not awful. Range 2 guns are sort of gimmicky but, use terrain to hide until they are within range and you're get. Really love the 2 white dice per mini. The scatter gun is a must have imo.

I think they have a use in every game, assuming you don’t have an open table.  The standby is a nice bonus, but their firepower is why you take them.  A full unit’s damage with the shotgun vs. a 6 man stormtrooper squad is actually identical to the feared AT-RT flamethrower.

If you manage to run them up a flank and your opponent doesn’t focus them appropriately, they will seriously regret it.

Incidentally, they are also great against speeder bikes, who tend to be closer to your lines and are slightly more vulnerable to standby due to their compulsory move.

If only this was an objective game.... Bummer

Note that i said camping objectives, not taking them. If they cant abuse their standby ability to action cheat, theyre worse off than regular troopers. Yes they throw more dice, but white dice blow something fierce, even with the surge

Having 1 unit of them in a list is probably a wise idea since its very likely you'll be able to snag atleast 1 objective before its contested. That objective would be difficult for your opponent to take without just zerging it.

White Dice w/Surge is 1 positive facing of Black Dice no Surge.

2 White vs 1 Black in that scenario is a 50% EV increase.

I think you're underselling the Fleet Trooper as far as damage dealing is concerned.

^^ This

White dice with surge don’t suck.  A base fleet trooper does 50% more damage than a rebel trooper.

When you add the shotgun, the difference is even more severe.  A full unit of fleet troopers with shotgun does an average of 3.75 wounds to a stormtrooper unit.  That’s the same as Luke does... and nearly twice that of a full rebel trooper unit with Z-6 (2).

I've heard good things about fleet troopers eating up speeder bikes. They can set up to trigger standby from the compulsory move.

Yeah they can't not move into range in certain circumstances.
