Fear is the path to the dark side It's the identical argument you can literally swap hurting animals with watching solo, it's called reductio ad absurdum, you take the argument to ridiculous extremes to prove it false. I do know I would hate hurting an animal, just as I know I'd hate watching solo but the argument was without trying I could not know, which you yourself have acknowledged is false. I actually know exactly what's solo I could describe who has freckles under what hood, who doublecrosses who, the exact circumstances of how Han wins the falcon, the fate of landos robot, all without seeing it. I have terribly low expectations of the film, but really hoping I'll be wrong and have a good time when I go see it tomorrow evening. I've actually never seen the first Thor, but I thought Thor 2 was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. So Solo is much better than Thor 2. Not sure if that was helpful. 1 Jadotch reacted to this

But, arguably, you don't know if you actually like or dislike hurting one if you've never done it. I think you might have been seeing things that weren't neccesarily there from the creators' side. 1 The actress voicing the droid is irrelevant. The L3's personality was very obviously modeled after the stereotypical "strong, independent black woman that don't need no man." The way she talked, walked, and acted were spot on. One of the guys I watched it with is on the opposite end of the political spectrum from me, and he agreed that's what they were going for, so it's not purely a political based observation. If its an accident, it's like saying the Imperials only accidentally look and act like Nazis. Edited May 25, 2018 by Alpha17

And the droid rights thing isn’t new either. IG-88 basically followed the idea, and I think Poe, at least from what I’ve seen movie wise, treats BB-8 more like a friend then property. Just saying, it ain’t new. But I also haven’t watched the Solo yet so I don’t know where they went with it.

SOTL 3,229 Posted May 26, 2018 (edited) Box office is full-on crashing now. By contrast to the $32m on Friday ($14m of which was actually Thursday), TFA opened to $119m, TLJ $105m, Rogue One $71m. Admiral Deathrain 5,232 Posted May 26, 2018 Not suprised Solo isn't doing well, the marketing was just bad. Literaly no hype for this movie. Add to that the ridiculous boycott 'movement' (when the head of you 'movement' is some weak Tai Lopez ripoff you should reevaluate your life choices that lead to this point) and yeah, the movies quality is kind of irrelevant at this point, too few people care. I'll go see it soon-ish, but I'm not rushing to do so. I'm curious to see how it turns out, kind of refreshing to go into a movie expecting nothing.

Ambigatos 101 Posted May 26, 2018 (edited) I'm reading the audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience score is being weighed down by people who refuse to even see the movie. So it's essentially getting bad reviews from people who haven't even "viewed" it. lol whaaaaat? Azrapse 3,215 Posted May 26, 2018 Perhaps it's not Solo's fault, but the audience is getting burnt out on Star Wars? There used to be like 3 years between OT movies, the same for the PT movies. There was a 16 years drought of Star Wars between ROTJ and TPM. 10 Years between ROTS and TFA. Now we get a Star Wars movie every year. Sometimes even just few months apart like between TLJ and Solo. If that is not enough, in between we are given cartoon series, shorts, tons of books, and all of that is intertwined in a single continuum narrative, more or less. I think the fans are getting burnt out, and the general audience is totally oversaturated. I know there are even more Marvel movies, but, I don't know. Maybe they have more varied characters. Sometimes too much of a good thing can be bad. 1 Odanan reacted to this
