Will we see Zuckuss and 4-LOM

I mentioned this a few weeks ago, but I think a big part of it is character design.

Boba Fett, chump that he is, has coasted by as a fan favorite almost exclusively on a cool character design.

It's hard to beat "giant slenderman robot" and "actual T-Rex" when it comes to memorable, too, and Dengar at least gets points for "Did you guys also see the toilet paper head guy?"

4-LOM and Zuckuss, in my opinion, just kinda look like generic goons, particularly because they look so similar to each other.  As far as a lot of fans go, they probably figured they were just a trooper escort for the actual bounty hunters.

I guess it might be interested to ask some non-hardcore, non-FFG gaming friends what bounty hunters they remember from the original trilogy.  I'm sure most who've seen the films would remember Boba Fett, and I would bet they could probably get at least one out of three of Dengar, IG-88, and Bossk.  I'm almost certain 4-LOM and Zuckuss would get the least amount of shout outs (obviously totally dependent on who you ask, though).

Though, for the record, I'm  always in camp Give US LOM/Zuck, if not only so that we can stop hearing about them.

As one who has contemplated designing a Zuckuss costume, I have watched the ESB bounty hunter briefing many times. The funny thing is that the bounty hunters' visibility in that scene almost match perfectly the rank of popularity you mentioned. It is so tough to get a clear view of Zuckuss for costuming purposes, and I think that lack of visibility is a major contributing factor for why Zuckuss and 4-LOM are not as popular. Additionally, that bridge was curved such that you can get a frontal view of the other 4, but only a profile view of Zuckuss and 4-LOM (this caused the creator of my bounty hunter bookmark to just crop those two out).

Character design is certainly be part of a bounty hunter's popularity, but screen time and visibility surely play a contributing factor, as well.

Yeah, that's a really goog point as well.  I just took a look at some shots from that scene, and the prototypical one seems to be this.

Image result for bounty hunters esb

Notice that also, 4LOM and Zuck are furthest away from Vader, and thereby furthest away from the action of the scene.  In fact, many of the photos I saw had either Zuckuss or both of them entirely cut out of the shot.

When you're really only in one scene in the movie and you're so badly overshadowed by costume design and mise-en-scène, you really don't have much advantage in getting noticed by casual fans, as cool as your backstory may be.

The thing is there have been several books and comics involving Zuckuss and 4LOM.  This is why old school fans want them.  I'll say it again, we have BT-1 and 0-0-0 which have zero screen time in anything, but are only in a comic series.  They aren't in Rebels, or Clone Wars and they have no history of EU appearances.  They were also popular in Star Wars Miniatures.  I can't explain the draw.  They've even had Robot Chicken episodes made about them, and they are **** funny.  I've liked Zuckuss for a while, so maybe that's why I'm so passionate about his inclusion.

What if TC14 is actually 0-0-0 and was happily leading Qui Gon and Obi Wan to their deaths?

Unecessary and tedious link established.

That's totally fair, but I think that's kinda the answer to your question.

Sure, Vader's droids are only in the comics (and again, I'd definitely suggest the Vader comics over Aphra) but they're also new canon.

For obscure characters that is good in two ways- there's likely to be a lot of current interest in them, and they can cross promote the new comics.

I know I for one bought my share of runs in comics, and it all started with the announcement article for the droids wave (along with me watching Rebels, too).

At least the longer you wait for them, the more likely it will be that they'll be adequately weighted and playable in whatever the meta is at that point. 😉

Unfortunately, I probably will never use rhem in the game. I'm just interested in painting the 6 of them together. 😅

I think the ship has sailed for Zuckuss and 4-LOM, unfortunately for those who are hoping to complete the ESB bounty hunter lineup. They don't have any appearances beyond that one scene since Disney took over the expanded universe, as opposed to the others who have made appearances in  various comics, games, and television shows. I'm also skeptical that another pair of bounty hunters would bring much to the table, especially since there isn't any lore or background to help flesh out their characters or give direction for what kind of abilities they might have. What might Zuckuss and 4-LOM bring to the table that would really set them apart from the other 5 bounty hunters we have from the OT, both in terms of gameplay or thematic appeal? At this point, it seems more likely that FFG would continue drawing from the comics (Dr. Aphra, Black Krrsantan) or TV shows (Mandalorians from Rebels) or new films (anyone from the Solo movie) rather than revisiting the final bounty hunters in ESB. I always keep my eye out for FFG using new art assets for its various Star Wars games, as new art can often be an indicator of what might be coming down the pipeline.

@sionnach19 If that's true, I'm just glad I haven't wasted money on the other bounty hunters.

I mean, I don't have any insider info -- and I always hope that people get the cool models they want! But I think it's extremely unlikely that Zuckuss and 4-LOM show up, so I wouldn't hold your breath (or buy the other bounty hunters!) in the meantime.

Well, i dont know if ffg follows popularity or not, but they do have tons of artwork woth Zuckuss and 4lom on it and have the Mist Hunter in xwing at least, so when they run out of Merc ideas, which they did in x wing as well, they can always fall back on Zuckuss and 4 lom waiting patiently for rules and figures. As far as what they bring to the table, that's up to the design team. I've got several ideas myself. You could even put them both on one deployment card. 2 unique figures on one card with back and forth bonuses would be something never done before and be super thematic based on their back story. They could both augment each other in a symbiotic way and thwn lose theose bonuses when one dies.

I've got a bad feeling about this... :P

So that would be:

Young Han

Shotgun-weilding Chewabacca

Young Lando

Qi'ra

Val

Tobias Beckett

L3-37

Dryden Vos

I'm not sure we necessarily need new versions of the first three.

Basically, it opens up a lot more than that- I think we could possibly include Enfys Nest, Moloch, and hopefully some other bounty hunters as well.

Again, FFG is likely to include the new stuff at this point.

Is this a real movie? Why?

From what I've heard, it's actually incredible.

I was pretty skeptical at first too, but from what I've seen I'm totally sold.

Actually Enfys' Nest is an early Rebel...

WHOA there man, big spoiler for Solo.

Luckily, I'd already heard it.

True, but she's not an Alliance Rebel as far as I know (I don't think they even exist yet).

I think she's more like Saw and his crew- could go either way, really.  Might be awkward in campaign, though.

Possible Rebel/Scum crossfaction unit?

You're probably right right Subtrendy, but I still dare to hope. Every now and then, they'll release a random pack of figures and be looking for a Merc / Rebel/ Imperial pack.  I also thought a Boba or Dengar fix would "fit" better in a Zuckuss/4-Lom pack rather than Prequel Solo packs or Rebels or whatever. (I think Rebels is probably done with the Lothal packs and the show being done)

Yeah, that would be a great way to package a fix for another bounty hunter.  And if anything, the fact that it looks like dual figure packs are popular right now is at least a good thing.

Agreed about Rebels, too.  There isn't a ton left that I think is iconic enough to make it into the game- maybe Rex, but even then I think the new trooper hero pretty much covers that base.

I suspect it'll depend on whether they decide to move into sequel content sooner rather than later.  I could see another small box focused around Rebels with Atollon as the location and which adds supporting characters like Kallus, Vizago, Ketsu, Bendu, various Mandalorian factions, Loth-wolves, speeder bike troopers, personnel carriers.  And you could almost eke a second one out with Ryloth and Geonosis locales, Saw Gerrara, Rex, Wolf & Gregor, Cham Syndulla, Numa & Gobi, Blurrgs, etc.  Still lots of good content there. In fact, given that Solo has just premiered its more likely we'll see more Rebels, R1 or OT content before we see Solo content, as the former is likely to be ahead of the latter in the dev pipeline.

I think we MIGHT get a blister wave out of rebels yet.  If I had to put money for the wave, I would say Kallus, Ketsu, and Rex.

also, I'm cautiously optimistic about the Solo movie.  I had serious doubts about rogue one, and then it came out and I loved it, so I'm slightly excited.

Yeah, I heard that about The Last Jedi too.  I won't believe anything until I hear more trustworthy sources.  Ron Howard is a good director. Rush, Apollo 13, Heart of the Sea, and the Shootist are some of my favorite films.  My daughter loves Curious George 2.  Also, we know Ron did Star Wars the way George imagined Star Wars should be before Executive meddling gave us what got in 1977 (thank goodness), also known as Willow. So if anyone wrangle a decent story out of the Disney's attempt to ruin it, it is him.

That being said I won't rest till Therm Scissorpunch is added to the game.
