Kanan Skirmish Card + Euro/NA Champ prizes

Recommended Posts

Seems like newer Force Users are speficially capped on damage output but maximize damage consistancy. I'll run the numbers later, but I expect Kanan's attack to have really good odds of getting at least 4 DMG and 40+% of getting at least 5 DMG vs. single die defenders. I guess it's due to Rebel (and Merc) Force Users having easy access to Focus.

I like Force Vision. That'll be a real pain in the butt to play against.

Soresu Form is proof that our dev team has been thinking about how to make defensive rerolls viable without letting Dodge dominate everything. Also really enjoy the mechanic of adding a free action that has some sort of resource cost (strain, health, etc.)

Did this happen in the past? I mean the release of an alt card before of the standard version.

For Imperial Assault, yes. Might have happened in Destiny.

OR this could suggest those products will be out before August.

Obi Wan 2.0...

But... isn't Obi-Wan better than this card? Similar durability, mobility and damage output (+1 evade is better than a reroll imo), and Obi-Wan has more useful abilities for 1 less point.

I feel like something is missing here.

I think I would play Davith over this card.

If they bring out more movement buff cards for Force Users or all units, Davith would start getting really fun to play.

The defensive reroll is for Kanan and other friendly figures. I'd rather have this Kanan in my list helping protect JK Luke, Han, Ezra (who I am hoping has more attack value but less HP) or Obi (the only Rebel Force User to have a red die in his attack pool).

Eight points is a lot for a hybrid support/dps. Sure, his defensive ability is strong and he can tank some damage (obi wan is tankier for one less tho), but those surges on GGY...

Wow, that's one heck of a stone to throw...

I'm going to reserve judgement until I see the new command cards. Jedi Luke definitely needs a defensive reroll!

TheForce Vision is really cool to lock an opponent into a choice, and then you can set up a one-two punch on someone you KNOW won't be activating.

Against a black die, he does 4 damage 90% and 5 damage 60% of the time.

I mean, I'm all for more movement cards for (rebel) Force Users, but between Force Rush and Heart of Freedom, rebel force users already have access to two of the best movement cards in the game, right? With Gideon and Hera, Ahsoka can move a full 11 spaces from her starting position and swing on round one, without cards. With Force Rush or Urgency, even Obi-Wan can amble a gentleman's 9. Throw in Jedi Knight Luke with things like Force Push and Looking for a Fight, and you can get a pretty mobile squad out of the Light Side.

My guess is we see something with defensive tokens, or re-rolls, recovering hp, or deflecting damage back, at least on the rebel side. I suppose that's a broad swath of options, so maybe that's too imprecise a bet, but my major suspicion here is that they'll stick to Rebel Force Users as somewhat pacifist units, with guile and the occasional elegant saber strike as their allies.

To be fair.... I probably like Davith too much.

That is an interesting use for Force vision but... that means Kanan will need to have 2 targets within striking distance, otherwise the opponent just chooses the only figure Kanan can attack, and no more 1-2 punch.

Thats what’s killing Force vision for me is Kanan’s minuscule area of control. Makes it much harder to leverage that ability effectively.

If you're playing a Jedi list and you aren't close enough to be threatening multiple figures, you're probably not going to win anyway. 5 spaces in any direction is a decent threat range.

Having other Force User buffs is great, especially if they involve adding to defense or deflecting damage back. That will make Rebel Force Users more viable when mucking it up with Troopers or Hunters near a control point. A rework of the Deflect cards, where the attack has -4 Accuracy applied and a nearby figure takes 2 DMG unblockable, would probably be worth 1 or 2 points each.

But I'm really afraid multiple Rebel Force Users in lists won't be able to be effective without adding more movement options in either the command deck or via a skirmish upgrade. You can't hit what you can't reach, and both Rebels and Mercs have figures whose threat range makes it difficult to find cover while approaching. Given that the modern tournament game lasts 3 rounds, if your opponent can keep most of your Force Users from attacking just once in 3 rounds, your opponent is likely going to win (since most unfocused RFUs won't be doing more than 5 DMG per attack).

Yes, once Nal Hutta Swamps is rotated out, we'll have a set of smaller maps. I still think it'll be rough for RFUs to not have a card where they can move 2 spaces before or after an attack, so those figures can get back to cover.

there's more movement cards than you guys think, and I think they'll have 1-2 more added with this wave. Deathblow is one of the best cards for Force User to come out.  Both Ezra/Kanan and the Tyrants pack and maybe even Zeb/Sabine will have a melee focused cards, so there's 3 more at least I predict.  Urgency and Fleet Foot are good for melee figures and with figures like Luke and Kanan having Leader, you may see cards like Reposition or Advanced Warning being used more.
