GreenDragoon 9,567 Posted May 6, 2018 @RayGuns Both boxes use the same storage and shipping space. The only cost that FFG saves from one version to the other is the printing time and raw material for the minis, and that's very likely just a small part of the price because they already have the molds and everything ready. How would you justify this decision for FFG? 3 Mattman7306, TasteTheRainbow and DagobahDave reacted to this
MasterShake2 5,184 Posted May 6, 2018 So, did anyone else notice that the 2.0 core set is only $40? The same price as the original about 6 years ago even though it has more components and better ship models? They aren't doing cash grab man. You've spent more than this on plastic crack (how many Reapers/Saws Renegades were you picking up again?). 22 1 1 Zura, Kleeg005, SabineKey and 21 others reacted to this

SOTL 3,229 Posted May 6, 2018 They should fill the unused space in the box with salt, just to top you up if you're running low. 2 1 Stoneface, TasteTheRainbow and impspy reacted to this

MarekMandalore 768 Posted May 6, 2018 I can see both sides of this, honestly, but in the end I think FFG made the right call. Do I want or need more X-wings? Or TIEs? Not really. The 5 TIEs and 4 X-wings I have are enough. On the other hand, do I expect FFG to put out two nearly identical products, simply removing three models and dice from one to cater to me and others like me? Of course not. The upgrade kits already make it advantageous to be a 1.0 veteran. Those who’ve played 1.0 and have an existing collection will have far better ship options than those just starting with 2.0. From FFG’s standpoint, there are probably a lot of players who not only don’t mind the extra ships and dice, but they’ll want the articulated X-wing, anyway- and it’s the iconic Red 5. The reality is that those who will truly have a problem with buying a full starter will be a (perhaps very vocal) minority, and for that tiny niche, it makes no sense for FFG to print a separate product which would save thos players MAYBE $10. 1 SabineKey reacted to this
GrimmyV 7,421 Posted May 6, 2018 Hey, I could use all the minis in the new core. And I could always use new rocks and debris. And it’s going to feel like a totally new game. I’m excited about the core set, they’ve been great value in the past and have good missions for home play, hopefully we don’t get a third iteration of the escort mission tho. MasterShake2 5,184 Posted May 6, 2018 Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they have the mustache rock this time around. I'll still use it, most hit rock in the game for the win!
skotothalamos 3,652 Posted May 6, 2018 The basic upgrade kit comes with three models to share/sell with your friends/enemies if you already have enough. Maybe you could use that extra plastic to help new players get into the game. You might even make back that money you're entitled to. 1 Maui. reacted to this
RejjeN 195 Posted May 6, 2018 I'm fine with the new core even as pure scum, but I wouldn't complain about a cheaper option... Shame for x-wing dads with several children though ? 1 SabineKey reacted to this
