Qwrety77 57 Posted May 4, 2018 I like speeder bikes a lot and want try my AT-ST with them, but can't decide on the troopers. I have: Commanding, Esteemed Veers - 95 points AT-ST with 88 - 215 points 3x Speeder bikes - 270 points 5x Naked Stormtroopers - 220 points Right now I'm thinking I would use the troopers as semi-expendable to grab objectives and guard the flanks of the AT-ST and Veers while they march up to thick thick of the action. The bikes would try to swoop in and wreck stuff from the flanks. I like the amount of activations I get, but I'm wondering if I should drop one of the trooper units and put some grenades/extra troopers on a couple of them. I haven't used the AT-ST or Veers yet, so I don't really know what to expect. 1 HanScottFirst reacted to this
Qwrety77 57 Posted May 4, 2018 Or is this just a dumb idea and should I drop a bike unit in favor of trooper upgrades?
HanScottFirst 349 Posted May 4, 2018 I do not have too much table experience with Legion, but the more troops, the merrier I'd say! Having 10 activations sounds darn good, too. You would probably even out-activate the Rebels these days! I mean, the AT-ST is a tank with impact 4 in range 3 vs vehicles, so no need for the HH12. Bikes die fast, but that surge conversion on offense is insane!!! 3X bikes should be able to flank and fly and just shreeeeeeed anything that goes out in the open. The bikes will also have impact 2, so yeah. Good anti-vehicle with your own vehicles (which become tankier with Veers), and 5 unit leaders to grab objectives. You could definitely throw out good suppression with the stormies, and if you really just are using them to grab objectives, it should be a solid list. Throw out damage with the vehicles, and send the stormies out to capture things. 1 Qwrety77 reacted to this
HanScottFirst 349 Posted May 4, 2018 Funny story about a squad of 4 stormies: A T-47 speeder flies in slightly behind my lines, and does damage, but gets damaged in the process, ends up with 3 lives. A squad of just 4 stormies is right next to the T-47, and with an aim, rolls/rerolls, into 3 criticals. T-47 blanks and goes down haha. Not saying that stormies normally get 3 crits, but: With precise 1 rerolling 3 dice, you technically roll 7 dice with aim token, meaning it is not too, too unreasonable to "expect" a crit if stormies can aim and fire. 1 Qwrety77 reacted to this

With a couple squads to keep Veers alive and keep enemy troops from flanking the AT-ST, I should be able to march in into the thick of things to draw fire from the bikes. If I use Veers to give it aim, then move/dodge and fire, the AT-ST should be a real issue to deal with. If my squads take hits, then, well, they do, NBD. They're just objective and suppression fodder anyway.

That's true. Anything is possible with the luck of the Whills on your side.
AintNoPoser 117 Posted May 8, 2018 I'd say drop a bike. You'll need the 90 points in upgrades. Or you can add another corps unit and spend on upgrades. 1 Qwrety77 reacted to this
TobiWan 13 Posted May 8, 2018 (edited) What do you think about this? At least you loose 2 bikes and so one activation but you get 4 Stormies with DLT. Edited May 8, 2018 by TobiWan 1 Qwrety77 reacted to this

Yeah, this was more of a test build, but I didn't get to test it this weekend. This build was going to use every Empire unit I have! 4 hours ago, TobiWan said: What do you think about this? It would be fun to have so much vehicle firepower flying around with so many activations, but when half of your army is basically just fodder, the math falls behind.
