Bohemian73 161 Posted May 4, 2018 I thought I would start with terrain. This is a Disney AT-AT popcorn bucket. I used 2" wooden disks for the feet. I have a drill bit (40mm in this case) that is used for creating base holes in wood to display miniatures. That created the pattern on the bottom. Note the second picture has based miniatures. I had to use different cameras because my very expensive one doesn't do close-ups very well. 9 You Look Like A Nail, General Weiss, Dragon_King and 6 others reacted to this
Bohemian73 161 Posted May 4, 2018 Here is another AT-AT. I plan to use it as static terrain with or without as Endor like landing pad I will be doing. The button on the left is the on/off for the LED. The press button on the right is to 'fire' the lasers. I don't intend to do anything with the bottom of the walker legs. It didn't let me upload my video link. So here is a picture of the cockpit at least. 6 srMontresor, Force Majeure, Scalycarp and 3 others reacted to this
Bohemian73 161 Posted May 4, 2018 some troop pictures, only took me a month to paint, but hey, I have some terrain. I am only doing table top painting. I don't plan to win any prizes with these guys, but they look great on the table. I will have to take my son's advice and do some white touch up on a few figures (i.e. the left-hand commander in the second picture). I may add matching commander colors to the back, but I don't plan on mixing up miniatures, so will wait and see if I need it. 6 Gengis Jon, Dragon_King, You Look Like A Nail and 3 others reacted to this
Bohemian73 161 Posted May 4, 2018 This is a WIP Luke with a LED light saber. I used a pin vice to drill a hole for the wires. Note the wires in the back and on the arm. I then used green stuff to fill in the gaps. Just primed him white so will post a picture of how that turned out. I will also be able to see if I still need to fix anything. First glance says I need to clean up some mold lines and fix a couple of places, otherwise he looks good so far. 5 SFC Snuffy, Force Majeure, Gengis Jon and 2 others reacted to this

Bohemian73 161 Posted May 4, 2018 (edited) No, drilled from the foot to the waist and shoulder to the waist, arm to hand and cut a groove on the arm. I used a pin vice. Edited May 4, 2018 by Bohemian73

Bohemian73 161 Posted May 5, 2018 I plan to start painting Luke today and to glue the rebels. One dislike about rebels is all males have facial hair. I would like to have done some males without facial hair. I guess it will be a couple of females and a paint job for my 'other' aliens.
Bohemian73 161 Posted May 6, 2018 (edited) One coat of paint on Luke. I am not happy with my LED results. I used a 1.6mm (nano) light, but it isn't as bright. It may have to do with me not getting the LED in the hole in the light saber. Most of the blue is from a blue ink. It does help to scuff up the acrylic rod. Shadows of the Future 94 Posted May 6, 2018 Personally, I've decided not to bother lighting the minis themselves unless it's more for a display piece than a gaming piece. Yes, they do look great, but you rarely game in lighting dim enough to make the effect worth it. 1 SFC Snuffy reacted to this

Agreed, but I like to modify stuff and I do a lot of LED lighting. The effect and my paint job aren't going to win any 'best painting' either. Since I use magnets to hold the battery, I will play with him (table top painting), although it may, or may not always be with the light.
Bohemian73 161 Posted May 17, 2018 So I got some alien heads. Someone asked in another thread about how they fit. The fit may be more to me not pinning exactly in the center, so I may need to use some green stuff. I believe the heads are the right size. 1 SFC Snuffy reacted to this
Bohemian73 161 Posted May 17, 2018 (edited) I also added magnets to the AT-RT. bigger on the body and smaller on the guns. Edit: forgot to add the pictures. going on vacation, so painting will have to wait. Edited May 17, 2018 by Bohemian73
Bohemian73 161 Posted May 17, 2018 Two pictures of Luke WIP. first coat and inked, need to highlight next. the hair and leg highlights are glare. I could have focused the one picture better too. 1 SFC Snuffy reacted to this
hemblecreations 190 Posted May 18, 2018 The figure's look great as doe's the pop corn AT-AT, wish we could get them here in Australia as the gaming tables would look awesome with them. Ron 1 Themodalnodes reacted to this
Bohemian73 161 Posted July 2, 2018 I got Snow Troopers while I was in Germany. Comes with English and German (note the two circles at the lower right on the box. The extra cards were English. Need to assemble and paint now.
Bohemian73 161 Posted August 8, 2018 (edited) Well, I finally finished Luke, so I have one whole rebel painted. But at least the others are primed. The flash washed out the blue LED lightsaber, which doesn't see as strong as some of the other ones I've seen. Bohemian73 161 Posted August 8, 2018 I was going to go with Galactic Marines, but decided to do Vader's security force for my Snow Troopers. His security force could be all red like the royal guard, so I used gray for the 'leather' parts. I used Khorne Red for the darker parts and Mephiston Red for the light parts. Then used Nuln Oil, followed by dry brush of Mephiston Red and another brighter red acrylic paint. Last touch was to use 'Arcodt' for the armor. I plan to use the reds for all but the weapons on the Royal Guard when I get them. 5 Force Majeure, Stasy, Gengis Jon and 2 others reacted to this

I started one lying on its side, like Rey's home (or pictures I've seen), but I plan to use an Endor like ground covering instead of a sand planet. Not sure what to do with the fourth. I have also started a bunker, but I have my priority on finishing troops at the moment.
hemblecreations 190 Posted August 9, 2018 Awesome work on all of them mate but got to say the AT-AT and the saber on Luke are brilliant. 1 Bohemian73 reacted to this
Bohemian73 161 Posted August 21, 2018 I started to assemble my AT-ST. I wanted an action pose with the legs. I was looking at video and I noticed that there is a distinct difference between The Empire Strikes Back and Rouge One for how the AT-ST walks. The turret is always level. The ESB AT-ST has the central section always level. That changed a little bit with Return of the Jedi. The central section isn't always level. Next, take a look at the AT-ST in the battle of Jehda scene, there is a distinct tilt in the central section. It makes me think of hips moving when walking. I also am not sure about how perpendicular the foot is to the ground when the leg is at its highest level. I am undecided on how to point/angle the foot that will be off the ground. Anyway I took a few pictures of my work in progress. First I cut off part of the mounting pegs on the central body and the leg mount section. The first is the central section. I put nails at angles to show how I will pin the leg mount section. The second picture is shows the leg mount sections. I drilled holes in each end for my pin. I think I will use a combination of glue to hold the pins in place and green stuff to hold the joints for the leg mount sections.
Bohemian73 161 Posted August 21, 2018 On a side note, I didn't have either weapon mount on the side of the turret. I do have the weapons and plugs. Hopefully, they don't send me a whole turret as I started to remove the view ports to add two drivers later. Missing parts request sent...
