LostFleet 403 Posted April 29, 2018 When you have computer games, the sales are in millions, latest Star Wars Battlefield 2 sold 9 million games ( they were expecting 10 ). I dont expect miniature games to sell that much, of course but I have no idea how big is the community. I was wondering if there is any number for Armada? Is it a few hundred players, a few thousand? There is no way for me to track online sales but whenever I visit a store, there are only few Armada stuff for sale, maybe 20-25 expansion packs at the max. I know X-Wing has significantly larger community but what are the numbers for Armada?Do FFG announce sales of the games? Such as number of Core sets sold? That would be a good indicator of number of players.
martok2112 373 Posted April 29, 2018 Sadly, in my neck of the woods, Armada is not very popular, which makes it hard to find those cool Armada miniatures in game and hobby stores.

TallGiraffe 3,447 Posted April 30, 2018 I would say at least 10,000 players. If I were to place a guess.
Noosh 1,295 Posted April 30, 2018 Not a bad estimate. I would say that's fairly accurate for active players. I would estimate that the number who buy though is a fair bit higher...at least 30k would be my bet. The regular sell outs on some items would seem to indicate a rather large (or rather larger than ffg suspects ) buying base. Mind you this isn't 40k which is bought to play a game. Simply put, ffg has the best star wars ships around, barring high end model kits, and I'm sure ppl buy just to display at the least. Star wars sells, end of story. I've looked at the latest run of Mico machines and they look pretty drab, no where as good. And by this point looks will sell. 1 thestag reacted to this

My FLGS sells plenty of Armada ships to guys with no interest in playing. They just like the ships.

They are quite good models. Probably the best pre-built Star Wars capital ship models ever made. Certainly better than anything you can find in the big box stores. Also easier than model kits. LostFleet 403 Posted May 1, 2018 I assume ISDs are best sellers for just collection, I can totally understand why people would want to buy for decoration ( when I dont play the ships are always on display ) I even consider buying X-Wing epic stuff just for decoration, they look great. 10k is a good estimate yet I wish the active players were around 30-40k so that there would plenty of people to play with it. In my case there are 4-5 people who play the game ( they also play X-Wing) and I am lucky if I could get to play a game twice a month. 2 thestag and GrandAdmiralCrunch reacted to this
thestag 749 Posted May 1, 2018 I originally bought into Armada just for the models. I had no intention of ever playing it. Then I played Armada. I wish I could play it more. I can only play casually at home with friends. With 3 kids and a full time job I don't get much time for gaming. And when I do get time, there is usually a group of us, so we'll games that support more people, and games that are quicker and generally easier to pick up. I hope once my kids are older (currently 4yrs, 6 yrs, and 0yrs) I can play some real Armada with them. We currently "play" Armada, but it's a very simplified version with no cards. 2 LostFleet and The Jabbawookie reacted to this
Norell 1,198 Posted May 2, 2018 I th8nk it depends. In the US I imagine the numbers are much higher than on the other parts of the world.l due language barriers and thr significant difference of yearly income per capita. In Central Europe even the core set stains the budget of most tof the households, not to mention the exxpansions. So I would imagine there are even less players in South America or Asia. Maybe with the exception of Japan.

LostFleet 403 Posted May 2, 2018 After yesterdays announcement I think there is not enough Armada players at all Rest of the world is interesting, it is both related to exposure to Star Wars and also exposure to miniature gaming, board gaming, some communities are not that into both the movies and physical gaming. Financially I think it is same everywhere, it is an expensive game yet when compared to electronic sales in it is not that expensive ( a core set plus 3-4 expansion would be much cheaper than a PS , 3-4 PS games and PS subscription system )
bpasmeny 14 Posted July 11, 2018 I bought as set after looking at the price way back at release. I should have been playing this game a LONG time ago. My only hope is that FFG continues to support the game line, I think it was a fantastic game and am looking forward to start catching up with the releases. IE - Please don't cancel this anytime soon FFG! That being said releases are slow, which is fine, just keep it alive. The release schedule for Xwing is what initially scared me with Armada...at $50 a ship a fast release schedule would have killed me. ? That being said catching up now might do the same! 1 LostFleet reacted to this
