Fuschico and characters in play

Recommended Posts

So here's an odd question about Fuschico. His reaction is triggered when he would leave play. The usual time for this would be during the fate phase where it says to discard characters with no fate. So let's pretend we have Fus and a Prodigy of the Waves on the board both with no fate.  Both are directed by the game to be discarded simultaneously. With triggered abilities when things happen simultaneously you can choose the order to resolve them in. So can I do that with the discards? Can I discard the prodigy first, theb move to discard Fus and trigger his ability to bring the prodigy back?

It doesn't seem like that should work but I couldn't find an explicit rule against it.

Yep, step 4.2 in the Fate Phase. "These characters are discarded one at a time in an order of the discarding player's choosing."

As long as you select the Prodigy to leave play first, you're golden.

Ah cool. Thanks. I looked at the fate section in the learn to play and earlier in the rules reference and it just says all the characters are discarded but wasn't specific about timing for each character.

Didn't think to look in the back section.

Total tangent, but perhaps it defended at a Shameful province? Or was one of two attackers into a Shameful. Or the opponent had a Young Rumormonger out and wanted to prevent a character with Glory from becoming Honored?

There's a few outlying situations where it can happen.
