How do you organize everything on your table?

Recommended Posts

So I have finally gotten around to playing some real games now that I have some stuff painted.  One big issue for me is space.  The table I have is about 3' square.  I'm finding it hard to make room to put everything on the table.  Besides boards, you have the hero cards, dice rolling area, Loot deck, extra cards (like Travel, Item Decks, etc.), extra tiles you aren't using, and extra monsters.  It's pretty clustered to be honest.  What do you all do to make room?  How do you organize everything on your table?

I'm usually the overlord.

I have a seat at the head of the table. On the table i keep my Plotcards, Monstercards, Overlordcards and discardpile. I have my own set of cice.

I have two additional chairs left and right slightly behind me with all the boxes where all not (yet) used material is.

My players are at the side of the table and have their normal material: Herosheet, inventory, skills, all tokens for their specific class and hero (fatigue, health, etc.)  2 players together have a set of dice (each side of the table)

On the other head of the table there's a box with the leftover hero material.

Pretty much the same.  I do have a very large custom game table, but we leave it as uncluttered as possible.  I also have a folding table next to me, which holds all of the stuff not currently being used.

All of my Descent stuff is stored in containers which make it very easy to access and select things required.  This significantly helps.

Yeah- for me the most important bit is separating used from unused. If it's not used in the quest (and not going to be), it stays in the box and off the table.

For heroes, I help keep their areas simple by having 4 1oz plastic cups which each contain:

-all the hero tokens of a given color
-8 fatigue
-3 "5" health counters
-5 "1" health counters

This way, the heroes aren't constantly reaching for a pile (or piles) of tokens. The OL has his own supply of health, and fatigue when necessary for a quest.

I keep a lot of the other tokens in plastic boxes (again, to cut down on loose piles):

I have another box with the conditions, influence tokens, crumbling terrain, etc.
