What size magnets did you use? 3x2mm? Also have you had any issues with troopers in base contact on the battlefield?

I'm thinking of doing something very similar with an old baking tray and container.

Totally forgot about the video:

I used 5mm by 2mm magnets and they are perfect! No issues at all on the tables. The fit right under the bases and don't stick out. They're not too big or small

currently using a red planko box for all my cards tokens, range rules, etc.  I have two feldherr cases/bags for my models one for my troops (2 ccores, 2 snowtroopers, 2 fleet, Veers and Leia), the other is for my vehicles, 3 bike units, 3 atrt, and land speeder.

I went with magnets in the end. Bought a 500x250mm sheet of 0.6mm steel, cut it in half and put one in the core box set. 6mm x 2mm magnet under each model and two under speeders/AT-RT seems to be more than secure enough :)

I'm not sure if I'll fit two core sets of models in the one box, looks close. Might eventually move everything into a plastic container and bolt the steel down, but for current storage/setup usage it appears to have done the job.

May go the foam route for the larger models like AT-ST though.

I have both the P.A.C.K. 352 and 720.  The Small foam trays are half the size of the Large foam trays, so if you stick to the Small trays you can use them in either case.  I currently use my 352 for my X-Wing stuff and my 720 has other things.

Personally I think the pluck foam is a better investment.  Battlefoam doesn't always make the most efficient use of the space on their trays.  A good example is the Rebel tray with the 2 T-47 cutouts.  There are 2 AT-RT cutouts on the same tray which means that it is a 4" deep tray.  You could store the T-47 vertically on its side in a tray that deep yet they have a horizontal cutout for 2 of them.  Lots of wasted space there.

I've gotten quite a bit of battle foam.  Personally I avoid their preset, as it is always horribly inefficient, but I don't like pluck either.

I tend to use the custom foam creator and that does me really well I find.

Anyone know the easiest way to purchase Feldherr in North America? I may just bite the bullet and order from their website - I'd like their Empire case + foam. Options on Amazon are more expensive than ordering from them directly and having them ship to me from Europe.

Not sure if there is an NA distributor or anything?

The only option that I've seen is amazon, but sometimes some items are randomly high priced, but then go down.

I bought a seven dollar plastic tub from Target and a pack of egg crate foam for twelve bucks on Amazon. I had to trim some of the foam to fit the tapered bottom, but I sandwiched all my troops in the bottom three layers and then the ATST and speeder bikes at the top. I have room for a FFG deck box for the cards and i have tackle tray for the tokens. Easy, effective, and cheap.
