PSA: Movement tool modification

Recommended Posts

Paint has thickness guys. I know, it seems to go on so thin it couldn't possibly matter, but even a layer of primer adds thickness to any object it is put on.

This this in mind, make sure your painted movement tools are still usable, as in still fit into the movement notches on the vehicle bases. Several people have already sunk time into painting up their movement tools only to have to scrape down to plastic on the tips to make the tool usable again.

Personally, I suggest a minimalist approach. Just a quick wash of black primer into the recesses of the movement tool make it look good and won't interfere with gameplay in any way.

Good painting.

When I painted my vehicle bases the movement tools were so tight they were scraping the paint off.

I solved this by taking some 200 grit sandpaper and sanding down the edges.  Most of the “tightness” comes from the top corners of the tool.  For whatever reason the sides of the tools seem to bow out at the top and bottom.  Anyway, ten seconds a side was plenty.  Then I smoothed it out with a bit of 1500 grit so it’s not too rough to the touch.  They still fit without any wobble and in a game where you can hold the thing on the air over terrain it shouldn’t make any difference.
