azavander 150 Posted March 30, 2018 Each figure gets a little better as I learn control, using smaller brushes and how better prime the figure to start with. They are not perfect but my last two the imperial unit leader and the rebel leader I think turned out pretty decent. 8 Sorastro, Kyle Ren, Stasy and 5 others reacted to this

I hid my first ones in the back of the group pick so you cant see them well.... they dont look good at lol. 3 minutes ago, Jabby said: Those are good. What method did you use for the stormies? The rebel leader is also very good Thank You. The Rebel leader was the most recent one, and tried a different method than the stormies. For the Stormies I used different methods to try and see how they turned out, I primed in white on all of them. The DL-19 you can see some of the outlines, i actually used a wash to do that and then painted it backup white and then white on top of the hard lines in the center. I have debated heavily, with myself if i actually like that look. Gives it more depth but, something about the lines.. the first pair i painted i washed them all with dark tone and they just looked way to dirty so I basically painted them all back up. Anyways i digress, I then used AP Dark Tone wash to just hit the the black areas gave me a better look at what to paint black. Then used my 10/0 brush to hit them with a dab of black paint gives it some nice tonal difference. Who says you have to paint before wash... (my first trooper I was using a 0 and hadn't discovered the smaller brush yet. Make a huge difference.) Even with the white primer I still went back and hit all the areas with white paint, but I did the larger sections and left off right before the edges of the plate where i painted in the wash before, so it still gives a little bit of definition since the are slightly different colors of white. azavander 150 Posted April 9, 2018 Well paining is going very slowly, really not enough time in the day. But I have been working on my rebel commanders to decide what color schemes I want to go with. I have a 5th troop set I have opened yet, we’ll see what environment they are from. 3 Stasy, thebigeb2589 and VAYASAN reacted to this
VAYASAN 850 Posted April 9, 2018 My advice would be dont rush it, dont rush yourself to get them painted. Enjoy it as a hobby, there will be a long time to play the game down the line and painting them is all part of he whole process ;] Feels hard work at times but once a few units start to get completed, it feels great seeing them in battle imo! 2 azavander and Oberron reacted to this

For sure, I have really enjoyed playing the game and now that I more or less decided the color schemes for the rebels i will start knocking out a squad 2 figures at a time. (After I finish up the other 2 leaders) my hope is to get 2-4 figures painted a week starting in May. If I went and actually primed them all in advance I might get them done sooner. Id advise to get them all primed (or at least in batches of say squad size at least). 1 azavander reacted to this

azavander 150 Posted April 14, 2018 (edited) Phasma has to get the idea from somewhere. I am still have to finish of the bases but still a little fun with these guys. When they are off duty they go to the park and break dance for tips. Here is Chrome Squad: Edited April 14, 2018 by azavander

azavander 150 Posted May 9, 2018 (edited) Just wanted to update my progress and have an excuse to get out some terrain and take pictures of my minis lol. On my Phasma Troopers went in and gave the eyes some black highlights to break up the chrome. Then I also have been working on some Shadow Troopers. Then I have been working on a Brown based camo type stormtrooper set as well. The rebels are still pretty far behind the game but the first squad is almost painted out just hands and black colors to go next. I took someones recommendation and have been working on a squad at a time, and doing all one color set at once. Still tough finding all the time I need but its coming along slowly! Once I get this next set of rebel troopers finished I will likely go through and bases them all so I can put a pin in those ones. It isn’t based on anything Imperial preceding her, I can tell you that... About the bunker, so I am completely new to all this, but I have been collecting Star Wars forever. In my home office I had one of the 90s power of the force Endor bunkers for the 3.75 figures. I took that which was way to tall and using pink foam built around it so that the entry was a little closer to scale. It’s still completely open in the back so for the time being it’s at the edge of the table until I decide what to do with it. I had debated making an internal structure like someone else here did but haven’t really had the time or skillz so I may just enclose the back sonit can be placed anywhere. 1 BigBadAndy reacted to this
