EyeSeven 70 Posted March 28, 2018 So slapped my first bit of paint on last night, had to finish some other miniatures before I got to Legion. Started with Vader because, you know, it's Vader! Really added some glow to his glowy stick of doom. Next I will tackle his first squad of Stormtroopers. 10 ImhotepMagi, Force Majeure, oddeye and 7 others reacted to this

EyeSeven 70 Posted March 28, 2018 Thanks but really you should all be thanking Sorastro for that. I would urge you to have a look at his painting video for Vader as it really helps. I just pushed it a bit further (and not as well)! 1 zsavk reacted to this
EyeSeven 70 Posted April 2, 2018 Added my first Stormtrooper squad today. Learnt quite a bit from doing them so looking forward to doing the second squad. Also, first time using the Woodland Scenics snow effect. Like it but it needs to be layered. Vader is already feeling safer! Next to the paint table will be the speeder bikes. 1 srMontresor reacted to this

EyeSeven 70 Posted April 4, 2018 Finished my 74-Z speeder bikes and am reasonably happy with the results. My big glowing explosion doesn't really come out in the photos but is one of those LED tea light explosions I made during the week which looks really good in person. Anyway, here is the squad and the growing group shot. I used to own the old West End Games version of these miniatures but never got around to painting them as I found then just too small. For all the controversy, I am so glad these are slightly bigger than both those and IA. According to my son, Luke is up next! I think he wants some painted forces too. 4 ShadowKite, oddeye, Alathazal and 1 other reacted to this

Thevshi 127 Posted April 4, 2018 Indeed, they look great. Like the colors for the speeder bikes. 1 EyeSeven reacted to this

Been following your videos for inspiration which have helped me immensely. As I am doing a sort of Hoth theme I experimented with a few colours until I got something I wanted. I didn't want to do white again as it could have become too much so eventually blended Vallejo's Ivory and White Grey. 1 Sorastro reacted to this

Great work! Well he was loitering at the back so was asked to politely move to the front and now Vader is persuading him to greater things with the tip of his saber. I should really add in some carbon scoring to his bum for the full effect! 1 KalEl814 reacted to this
ABXY 1,019 Posted April 5, 2018 I like the 'black-lining' you've done on the trooper armour - looks less severe than some others I've seen... ... would it be correct to say, because it's more a case of 'grey-lining'? 1 EyeSeven reacted to this
Stasy 2,502 Posted April 5, 2018 Ok... Those bikes... I'm totally stealing that concept. 1 EyeSeven reacted to this

You would be. That is a thinned down Mechanicus Standard Grey from GW. Really thinned down, can't stress that enough. I am pretty sure this is exactly what Sorastro used in his video as well. 3 hours ago, Stasy said: Ok... Those bikes... I'm totally stealing that concept. Thanks, feel free to steal away. That's what I like about painting threads - the ability to thieve someone else's ideas . Let's face it, all my miniatures paint schemes so far have been exactly that. The speeder bikes idea I got from an image search and I found a plastic toy called Hoth Speeder Bike Patrol which I liked. 1 1 Stasy and ABXY reacted to this
EyeSeven 70 Posted April 9, 2018 So I got Luke done and have been quite productive in getting more Legion stuff done. Magnetised the ATRT, purchased a Revell Snowspeeder for a scenery project (and put it together), started modding a few pieces including the ATRT and the missile launcher stormtrooper. Will show all those once they are done but for now here is my Luke. And of course a duel scene because it would be remiss of me if I didn't! 2 BigBadAndy and Force Majeure reacted to this
EyeSeven 70 Posted April 11, 2018 So added the AT RT today with a couple of small mods. The weapons have been magnetised and one of the piston parts was shortened so the seat was leaning back very slightly with the new leg position. I thought the rider pose was so relaxed I would give him an "Easy Rider" sort of look. They also clearly don't take great care of their equipment! Took longer than I wanted as I took some time getting a paint scheme I liked which I could then copy onto the troopers. Comments welcome as always. 3 Stasy, Force Majeure and BigBadAndy reacted to this

EyeSeven 70 Posted April 20, 2018 (edited) First rebel squad has been done. Pretty happy with how they turned out. Now all I need to do is workout how to keep the second squad in the same scheme but make them different, an oxymoron if ever there was one. Suggestions welcome. So this is alien Bob Russel, the unit scout. He doesn't like anyone as they make fun of him constantly. With his skin pigmentation it took the squad all of 2 minutes to Christen him Brussel Sprout the scout. He didn't see the funny side. And finally, the ever growing group shot. Missile launcher has some new effect but really that will be for the second Stormtrooper unit which will also have a couple of other conversions and additions. It may be a small wait for the next unit as I am new to this green stuff conversion malarky and everything is taking twice as long as I planned! BigBadAndy 640 Posted April 20, 2018 Wow. Does that missile effect come off? I’d love to hear how you made it.
EyeSeven 70 Posted April 20, 2018 Just now, BigBadAndy said: Wow. Does that missile effect come off? I’d love to hear how you made it. It does. I started off with a bit of brass wire and then just sculpted some green stuff round it. Stuck an air to air missile from a 1:144 scale F15 kit on the end and then added some paint. Here is the in progress shot and the trooper it will eventually end up on. On this trooper the wire will be completely covered close to the barrel. Contemplating doing some smoke coming out the back. 7 1 Force Majeure, Sorastro, Scalycarp and 5 others reacted to this
