Pheonom 40 Posted August 31, 2018 (edited) The following cards are to go with the Dragon Hunt and Ring of Power endings: Edited November 5, 2018 by Pheonom 1 Reedstilt reacted to this
Reedstilt 170 Posted August 31, 2018 Other than the direct link to your dropbox, none of the new links appear to be working on my end. I'm just seeing a broken image thumbnail and "p,png?size=1024X768&size_mode=3"
Pheonom 40 Posted August 31, 2018 I don't have much luck trying to link from Dropbox... I've tried another source, can you see them now?
Reedstilt 170 Posted August 31, 2018 Still broken links, but at least now I can see what specific files you're trying to link to.
Pheonom 40 Posted November 4, 2018 Ok. So I’ve tried to upload all the images again, but this time from a different source. Has this helped at all? Can people see the images?

Can people see the images? The links are working fine now. I assume the Dragons at the top of this page are the ones the go with the Dragon Hunt ending. What back are you going with for those? If you don't have something picked out yet, I think you could tinker around with this to make it work well. Just need to see about tinting it green so it matches the fronts better. 1 Pheonom reacted to this
Pheonom 40 Posted November 5, 2018 That’s correct, the dragons are to go with the Dragon Hunt ending. I’ll edit to make the post clearer. I just used the Grilipus card back as I’m not sure how to import custom backs into Strange Eons and not very familiar with creating custom backs in general. Thank you for the suggested image though, I love it! When I get more cards printed (stable/spells/quests) I may end up reprinting the Dragon Lords anyway, as I don’t yet know how balanced that ending or those enemies are yet. Likewise with the other endings, none are tested and I’m very open to any opinions on balance or gameplay issues that I may have overlooked.

It's actually really easy to make card backs with Strange Eons, but it's also easy to miss how to do it. If you go to Other Cards category and scroll down to "Simple Card Back." It's hidden just below the cut-off on the list. All you need to do is change the portrait like any other card and you've got a new custom back ready to go. When I get some time, I'll look over your endings and see if any balance or gameplay issues jump out at me. 1 Pheonom reacted to this
Pheonom 40 Posted November 5, 2018 Now you've said it, the card backs seem so simple now... thank you! ? Input would be really appreciated on the endings, as things that sounded fun in theory, might end up being complete trash on the table. My intention for these endings was for them to be played without any of the corner boards and using the regular main board.
Cru4n 33 Posted November 16, 2018 Hi, everyone. I am currently in a process of trying to have some cards made by makeplayingcards.com, namely my own character cards and the nomad characters downloadable from Jon's talismanisland. The thing is, they're asking for authorization from the copyright owner. What's that? Anyone had a similar problem? Thanks

Thanks 1 When you process an order there is a little checkbox (can't remember at which stage) that asks that the work isn't copyrighted to anyone else etc. You just need to ensure that you've checked that box. As you're printing with personal use in mind, you shouldn't have any issues.

But I want them to make some character and ending cards, which are totally custom, and they contacted me with this demand. Well, I told them they are homebrewn and for my own use and it seems they go along with it. I will send a picture how the cards look when theyre done. In the meantime I am having them make me game boards and game tiles at boardgamesmaker.com, namely the lost and deep realms board and the altered regions board from my Timescape expansion so I am looking forward to see how it looks. It certainly isnt cheap, so theyd better perfom:)
Cru4n 33 Posted December 2, 2018 So, the Chinese sent me some pictures of the boards already made before the shipment. Here's what they look like: <a href="https://ibb.co/wRbz19N"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/CzXHFk5/image-4.jpg" alt="image-4" border="0"></a> <a href="https://ibb.co/q9NgmmQ"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/k04DqqC/image-5.jpg" alt="image-5" border="0"></a> <a href="https://ibb.co/2tYcjjY"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/1qJR99J/image-8.jpg" alt="image-8" border="0"></a>

Pheonom 40 Posted December 2, 2018 Wow! The quality on those looks incredible. I’d love to see them in more detail once you have your hands on them. The artwork looks so fluid on the boards too, very professional.
talismanisland 721 Posted December 2, 2018 Nice job.
Cru4n 33 Posted December 2, 2018 Thanks! I will post the pictures when the boards and the cards arrive. I have the Lost and Deep Realms boards made by them too, will post the results when they are with me. 1 talismanisland reacted to this
Cru4n 33 Posted December 15, 2018 I received the boards and cards yesterday, here is just a quick look as I was too eager to try a game with them. Will post closer looks on demand: Overall, as Pheonom pointed out earlier in the discussion, the cards are darker that expected, which is not much of an issue. The material is just fine, not so the printing quality, especially concerning the card text. It doesn't look that good. The small cards are not much of an issue, but you can see that on the character and ending cards where the text gets quite blurry.. That means it still has a long way to reach the quality of the original cards. The boards are a bit of a letdown too. While they might look good on the pictures, with a closer look you can see, it is just a thin linen paper sticked to a firm board (whose quality is very good, on the other hand) and is nowhere as good as the original boards regarding the quality of the overall treatment as well as the print itself. Absolutely usable in a game of Talisman, still I expected a bit more professional work from the boardgamesmaker and makeplayingcards after reading their bold statements on the web. Yeah, the game tiles (in my case the power seals in the middle of the picture) are perfect. They are the only ones looking as if done by FFG or Games Workshop. 3 Reedstilt, talismanisland and Pheonom reacted to this

I've had 3 orders this year from Make Playing Cards and aside from them being a shade darker, I've been really happy with each one. Also sorry to hear you were disappointed with the boards, they do look very good in the photos.

The cards blend with the original mix just fine and the boards still look quite good, I just expected the FFG quality:) When I get home, I will post comparison pictures of the cards, so you can see for yourself. Cru4n 33 Posted December 18, 2018 Okay, here's the comparison: As you can see, the card is darker. There is a vertical align issue, that is present on all the character cards, sadly.. The most different part is the text, it is quite shady, definitely not as crisp as the original card text, see the close up here: Here's the comparison of the linen cards. They're a bit smaller, but that's fine. But just like before, the text is not crisp at all. And finally, the smooth cards comparison: 1 Reedstilt reacted to this
Reedstilt 170 Posted January 8, 2019 Cru4n, what are you using for the bases of the character cards. I want to do something similar for my own custom characters, but I'm hesitant to buy any stands until I know that they'll hold something as thin as these cards. They're the original character stands from the second edition of Talisman:) At least from the Czech version. 1 Earl Wynn reacted to this
Mind Robber 2 Posted February 14, 2019 Love these cards, certainly be using a lot of them for our next game. Where do you get the 5x4" character cards printed? (would like to get my modified characters for talisman and DQ printed and MPC don't do that size),

I haven't been able to find anywhere yet that will print the Character and Alternate Ending cards yet, so I ended up printing them at home on plain white cardstock. It isn't perfect, but good enough to act as a placeholder until I find a better solution. If you find anything suitable, please let us know! 👍
