dirsch 0 Posted March 14, 2010 I'm wondering if I just got a bad cut for my tiles for DOOM and it's expansion. Most of the tiles do not seem to lock properly together. If I were to force them to fit (like the wrong piece in a puzzle), I'm worried the layers will start to peel away. I was thinking about using a dremel to help fix the edges. Anyone have this same problem? Anyone try to fix this? Thanks!
RedSimon2 0 Posted March 14, 2010 Everybody has that problem. The only solution is to be careful.
Steve-O 473 Posted March 15, 2010 That is, unfortunately, a common problem with Doom. The good news is that the cutting process seems to be improving in other FFG tile-based games, but that doesn't really help you with Doom. =p All you can really do is be careful about putting them together and taking them apart. Pinch down both sides of the interlocking tips with thumb and forefinger when taking them apart to prevent layer tearing. My game pieces still look cherry after several years of play, because I was careful from the get go.
shnar 52 Posted March 15, 2010 I've never had a problem with my Doom pieces, they seem to fit rather nicely. My Descent boards, on the other hand, almost none of them fit nicely, so I do something similar to Steve-O's suggestions. -shnar
dirsch 0 Posted March 15, 2010 Has anyone tried using a dremel or something similar? I'm hoping to hear from someone that's tried before trying on my own!
Warhippo 0 Posted March 17, 2010 When I bought Doom (years ago) I was amazed at the build quality / number of components in comparison to the cost. How FFG managed to maintain a decent profit margin for the game was beyond me. The non-fitting issue was the only niggle I had. I've dealt with this problem by careful use of a craft knife - I just cut a thin sliver off the offending part of the jigsaw connector. It cuts easily and the backing / top sheet don't separate from the cardboard inner.
