Hey, serious question.

Have you ever played that game? My dad has the original Milton Bradley Axis and Allies, which we've played together every vacation since I was about 8. There's an ad for this on the side - I always thought it looked fun!

I played the old Milton Bradley version once a long time ago. Didn’t care for it. I don’t remember why exactly, but something about the “everyone vs 1 other guy” aspect didn’t work for me. FFG reprinted it more recently, they might have tweaked the rules a bit to improve it so the newer version might be better. Still, vastly prefer A&A and Conquest of the Empire.

So about the OP:

havent seen it, probably won’t see it anytime soon.  It’s a shame this book has never been given the proper treatment but deserves, and I figured a big budget Disney model was gonna be able to pull it off.  As far as the casting goes, I don’t care about ethnicities as long as the following is adhered to:

Meg Murray is a hopeless awkward nerd

charles Wallace is a creepy as fuq weirdo kid

the three Mrs. characters are quirky and strange.

also the odd planet during the climax of the story needs to be suitably uncanny like the Stepford Wives town, and based on one preview it appears to be this way.

I played Axis & Allies the most by a HUGE margin, I just bought the anniversary edition.

Shogun, I played far less but is a BEAUTIFUL game, where you need to learn to bluff, diplomatize, intimidate, as well as know when to strike.

I played Fortress America only once and can say, this game really favors the Americans. The invading factions need to push hard and fast if they hope to stay in the fight.

If you were able to take luck out of the equation, any competent American player will smother the other three players in the original game.

Side note, it’s a little eerie that the Middle East dictator greatly resembled Saddam Hussein.

Fantasy Flight did a re-release of the game.

, trump comes along and unemployment drops, business picks up, North Korea is willing to talk about disarmament and he destroyed isis.

Talk about fake news.

the economy and unemployment  were inherited from 8 years of policy from the previous administration, with Obama attempting to fix the worst recession since the Great Depression, which was caused by the administration prior to that.

the Dow is volitile suddenly and consumer confidence dips after one full year of Trump.

Toys R Us closes, with tens of thousands newly unemployed.   (This had more to do with the poorly regulated leveraged buyout in 2005 and subsequent mismanagement by the company than anything any one president did.)

Kim Jung Un is apparently calling Trump’s bluff and crazy will meet crazy face to face, if any of this is actuslly real and not a distraction or lead up to a false flag incident to distract from ongoing investigations by Mueller.

ISIS (or whatever it’s called these days) is very much alive, and Syria is still a huge mess, thanks to Trump’s pal Putin’s interference.

Trump is at best an incompetent yet overrated businesman who lucked his way into the highest office to become an incompetent president.  At worst he is an agent of chaos that either can’t be controlled by his domestic puppet masters or was virtually installed by foreign actors with the goal of distabalizing the US and shifting the global balance of power.

at any rate I hate both major US political parties for fostering polarization and fracturing the American people along socio-economic and ethnic lines for the purpose of creating and courting specific constituent groups that elect the same corrupt congressmen/governors/etc. term after term.  We should be all one people, all Americans, despite all our differences, in order to bring all our strengths, experiences and ideas together in a more perfect union.

sorry if this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

This.

And really everything else in that post, but I didn't want to take up a ton of space.

Let's just work towards getting the sitting president out so we can have someone on the side of sanity in

It seems like lots of stuff these days are very much fostering a 'Us vs Them' mentality. It really feels like the Right and Left are farther apart, with their edges becoming more extreme than before. Granted part of that is possibly more just me paying more attention to politics as I get older. America really has wonderful freedoms that we are able to enjoy, and as you say we should all be brought together by the fact we are Americans. Have it where we try to work together, discuss civilly, and make this country as great as it possibly can be.

Being a Trump suporter doesn't automatically make you a troll. It makes you a Russian hacker. :D

Sigh. If only my country wasn't run by idiots I could properly laugh at the American government.

Oh no, not the all important Belgium cinema market!  That’s why there’s so many waffles in American movies these days!

Hey I was born there!  It’s home to beautiful chocolatiers,  Mayo on fries (mayo on anything actually), and is Germany’s favorite test market for new field manuevers.

Sweet! I didn't know that.

Dude! Don't forget our beers! (Monthy Python was right. American beer is like making love in a canoo.) AND in Belgium we won't have to smuggle in Kinder eggs!

Also Belgium and Holland have a very similar dynamic like America and Canada. (friendly rivalry)
