Buzzsaw U-wing and thoughts on meta

It'd make him decent, I'd need to see it on the table before I call anything regarding a U-wing brutal :P.

I should stipulate it should have a 'Major Stridan' clause though, with it starting with 'For the purpose of your Crew Upgrade cards..'

A cheapo Bodhi/AP-5 combo could be good, though you'd need at least one decent threat to reap the benefits of their support abilities.

Maybe FCS / Nien Nunb / Leebo / Title on Bodhi to give him some action economy and a little turnaround capability? That plus the aforementioned AP-5 leaves 49 more points...

EDIT: or, sorry, you could swap Nien Nunb for Gunner to keep it buzzsaw, and have 45 more points for something.

In that case, yes, it's merely decent. Without it, you can block someone, APL them, then use tober's free action to smack them upside the head with advanced proton torpedoes.

The particular Bodhi in question has exactly zero upgrades which cost anything more than zero points.  I kinda think that works, though.  Getting Zeb on there might be good, since those U-Wings take up a bunch of space, and really can't afford to miss shots due to blocks.

The rest of the list was a PS 1 Auzituck with C-3PO and Intensity Jake.  Personally, I think I'd swap Jake for a cheap ARC like Braylen (move C-3PO over to him, put Wookiee Commandos on the 'tuck).  My issue with a 3-ship list like this is that Bodhi becomes kind of ignorable compared to a list like AP-5/Poe. If that's your last ship, things will look rough, and having a 4-ship list mitigates that.  I've been loving Poe/Fenn/Braylen with M9-G8 and Weapons Engineer, however.  Braylen is enough of a threat to pull heat, in a way Bodhi probably isn't, and Fenn increase the effectiveness of those red-dice rerolls, which doesn't happen in an AP-5/Bodhi list.

I have a friend who's a U-Wing with Sabine, EM, Proton Bombs, and Minefield Mapper along side Nym.  Set up a free-crit zone and hold it.

There are many crew combos that should be awesome:

  • Consistent Focus + TL
    • Ezra and Hera
      • stay stressed, get rerolls from FCS and focus->crit from Ezra. Averages 2.25 hits

    • Rey
      • FCS, use Focus. Averages 2.8 hits

  • Get a stealth device, Jan Ors and Rey/Kyle/Rex/OpSpec. Now you have focus+evade+TL on a 3/3/4/4 ship for 32 points!
  • Lando + Experimental Interface + Kyle Katarn. Fly green, get 2 focus + TL + a combination of 1-2 focus/evades on every turn for 34 points!

Is the dial so bad? Are half points so bad? Is a large base without repositioning so bad? Am I so bad?

You know, Hera, Ezra, FCS for 29 points doesn't actually look shabby and can simply sit there like a pillbox in space. 8 hull behind 2 green isn't that easy to kill. It might fit quite well in a 3 ship rebel list - Poe, Fenn, U-wing?

But in general I think the main problem is that you can put those crew on something else and get more out of them.

You can do that now with Zeb crew haha. A mate of mine has a build for it! Obviously only legitimately in arc, but with my idea and Zeb crew it would work anywhere on the base with the crew stipulation anyway.
