End of an Era - Episode IX to be the last for John Williams

Why is it his last?

Well he can't do this forever, so better to have a point where you just decide to be your last and take a rest from it, with that he'll have 3 trilogies of Star Wars, as much as we all love him for what he did and want it to go on for eternity, he deserves this break from it, he is getting quite old, I'd rather not have a trilogy or series only an incompleted part by him that he can't conclude

Agreed.  Let his legacy lie with the Saga (episodic) films.   Let others take over the reigns of the "Story" films.   Supposedly, Rian Johnson (director, TLJ) was lined up to do a new trilogy of films that went beyond the Skywalker Saga, but that will likely start a new categorical branch, and I'm sure John Williams will probably want to say "no" to those.   Last report I'd heard (don't remember where) was that that new trilogy was now backburnered.

I, too, am very thankful to John Williams for three trilogies of Star Wars music. :)  He deserves the rest.

John Williams is a tremendous talent in the movie scoring business. Spielberg owes him a lot of credit given a majority of his films were scored by Williams. And without a doubt, is a large part of what made Star Wars work.

I couldn't tell you how many songs by that man I played in my youth as an orchestra student. Want to get kids interested in music? Play the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, or Harry Potter themes.

And Superman.

You know, I am not ashamed at all to say that (perhaps it's me in mid-life, I dunno) I get a lump in my throat when I hear certain passages in the end titles of Star Wars, or certain passages in the main theme of Superman.

When, in the Star Wars end titles, the music is coming out of whatever interlude is playing, and starts building up full tilt into the main Star Wars theme again (Episodes III and IV, or Rogue One).... or in Superman, the middle of the theme, and the "Can You Read My Mind?" part of the main theme.... I get a lump in my throat, and have even shed a few joyful tears.   This stuff takes me back to my childhood.
