Shop around... craft paints are great for drybrushing, P3 white is quite good, magic wash (50/50 floor wax future shine/isopropyl alcohol and India ink) is useful. Beyond that the world is your oyster. I agree. I have never found other metallics to compare to Citadel. I find their washes and glazes very convenient, otherwise I almost exclusively use Vallejo.
