Hey friends and followers!

Today we are announcing a new community engagement activity called: INTERPRET THIS!

Each week, the crew of The Dice Pool Podcast will post up a scenario involving a skill check along with the dice results. The fun part is that you, our loyal followers, get to interpret the result.

There are no prizes, just some good wholesome fun. And you know, you may even get a few ideas of your own on how to interpret dice along the way.

Below is a list our weekly postings:

Great Idea !!!

"Although the deck is unstable as the ship is forces left and right from the storm below, Aetiuas and Mihangel have fixed the Infused Medium Attuned Cannon in no time (three sucess). The weapon is in place and directly pointed toward the pursuer ( first advantage). Additionally during the reapir the capacitors had time to fully load ( 2nd advantage). Aetiuas just turned to  Mihangel for a high five as he frowend. A huge storm snake comes out of the clouds below, directly in front of the Star Wanderer (despair)"

Love this.. we did the same in our group.  Here's my interpretation.

With Mihamg's help, Aetiuas quickly repairs the weapon (extra successes) and reinstalled with a lock on the chasing pirate (blue die on next shot).  Wiping her brow, Aetiuas regans a strain as she surveys her excellent handiwork.  Then a chill runs down her spirit ne as she hears the gutteral growl of Mihang.  The stress was too much for him and his Werewolf form begins to take over...

With the slightest nod of her head a richly dressed servant emerges from the ranks behind the princess. He lifts a thong from his neck, revealing an ancient iron key he hands to the ruler. "None but the most august families know of the secret tunnels leading from the castle to beyond the city gates," she says, turning it over in her hands. "With this you should be able to come and go unobserved from the streets. But I expect results, and if you fail, other things shall hang in a much more public area."

That’s awesome.

This is a tough one.  It's a social encounter, and these rules are pretty complex... (well, I haven't grokked them yet), and we haven't set the parameters.  Are we playing till we exhaust someone's strain?  Or is it just a single roll?  In addition, with 4 threats, I'd love to activate some of the Caslaan's fears... but they're not listed.   Thanks for making me read them...

So, the roll to convince the Princess that there is danger in Nerekhall is a success (2) with a triumph, but four threats... that means she is convinced....

The princess's advisers avoid her gaze, none willing to support Caslaan's outrageous story.  The silence in the room is broken by the graceful Lady Serana as she glides into the room.  "My Princess," she says, "this vagabond speaks the truth.  The wards of Nerekhall are failing." (triumph - the group gains a new ally)

The princess turns back to Caslaan, "you have a plan to lead an expedition?" (4 despair - the group gains a new enemy - one of the advisers feels he should lead, but success, the Princess is acting)

As this is their last chance Shamus flips through the Voynich Manuscript like a mad man. It must be in here. His focus on the book is renewed as the cute lady now seems more interersted in two other guys she is wisphering with. Finally he find the right ritual ( 2 successes). As he is copying the ritual in his notebook the lack of sleep takes its toll. Shamus falls asleep and collapses on his desk. Only to be woken by the loud scream of Ranbir. Not only has his collaps knocked over the candle which set the Manuscript and his notebook on fire (despair 1). the cute lady and her companion approache his desk with knifes in their hands (despair 2). Fortunately he also sees at the other end Abarrane and Terrence entering the library.(2 Advantages)

Nicely done. Great uses of the Advantages.

Shamus finds the ritual, and with the Advantages he will have 2 Boost dice available when he tries to use it. Unfortunately, by the time he is certain he will remember it, he doesn't know if he is asleep or awake.

Unfortunately for him - and the others present - it's the former.

His dream wandering attracted the notice of entities who broke through to our realm and have possessed the librarian and Ranbir. They have their own unguessable motives, and at some point Shamus will have to oppose them.

Also my obligatory link when the Voynich Manuscript is brought up by gamers:

Reading ancient texts in a Lovecraft world.... with two success, two advantages and two despair.

This is an easy one... Shamus has found the spell they seek!  As he reads the forbidden words, he feels their power flow through him (recovering strain and removing the tired condition).  "Yes, yes,... this will do," he mumbles as his smile turns into a distorted grin.  Roll on the insanity table twice (despairs).

It's Lovecraft, there has to be an insanity table!
